    Abstract
    Egal, ob Musikinstrumente, Tiere oder bekannte Persönlichkeiten - an ihrem Klang oder ihrer Stimme soll man sie erkennen. Eine beachtliche "Audiothek" ist Bestandteil der aktuellen Brockhaus-Enzyklopädie, die bis zum Jahresende mit 30 Bänden komplett vorliegen soll, 24 sind bereits erschienen. Die dazu gehörenden beiden DVDs bieten mit 3000 Hörbeispielen aus verschiedenen Wissensgebieten, etlichen Filmen und Videos zur Weltgeschichte Audiomaterial für 70 Stunden. Da erklingen zum Beispiel ungewöhnliche Instrumente wie etwa das Bass-Krummhorn, ein altes Holzblasinstrument. Aus der Fauna meldet sich zirpend die Maulwurfsgrille, während die Tüpfelhyäne fast hysterisch kreischt und der Panda-Bär kurze Brummtöne von sich gibt. Hörbar bewegende Weltgeschichte Zu den hörbar bewegenden Momenten der Weltgeschichte zählt zum Beispiel Willy Brandts leidenschaftliche Rede mit der Forderung zum Fall der Mauer, die er als Berliner Oberbürgermeister in den 1960er Jahren hielt. Und wer bei der nächsten Europa- und Weltmeisterschaft im Fußball die Nationalhymnen der verschiedenen Länder kennen will, der wird ebenfalls fündig. Zur Auflagenentwicklung schweigt sich die Brockhaus AG aus, erklärt aber, dass die gebundene Ausgabe nach wie vor bei bibliophilen Menschen gefragt sei, die Wert auf gute Bücher legen und dafür auch viel Geld investieren. Immerhin kostet das komplette Werk samt DVDs in gebundener Form 2490 Euro. Preiswerter und erfolgreicher als erwartet, so eine Brockhaus-Sprecherin, sei der USB-Stick. Der ist bestückt mit sämtlichen Texten sowie beiden DVDs und kostet 1500 Euro. Käufer seien oft jüngere Leute und solche, die wenig Platz haben.
