    Abstract
    Der Bibliotheksverbund NEBIS (Netzwerk von Bibliotheken und Informationsstellen in der Schweiz) ist der grösste Verbund wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken der Schweiz. Ihm gehören rund 140 Bibliotheken an 154 Standorten aus allen Landesteilen der Schweiz an. Im NEBIS arbeiten Bibliotheken sowohl aus der Deutschschweiz als auch aus den Französisch und Italienisch sprechenden Landesteilen. Der Anteil der nicht-deutschsprachigen Bibliotheken beträgt im NEBIS über 15 Prozent. Auf den Jahresbeginn 2016 hat der NEBIS-Verbund das bisher verwendete Regelwerk KIDS (Katalogisierungsregeln des IDS) durch das internationale Regelwerk RDA sowie die hauseigene Normdatenbank durch die deutschorientierte Normdatenbank GND abgelöst. Der Zustand der französischsprachigen Übersetzung der RDA sowie die Übersetzung der Anwendungsregeln des D-A-CH Raumes waren eine der grössten Herausforderungen bei der Einführung im Verbund. In einer mehrsprachigen Umgebung mit einer monolingualen Datenbank wie der GND zu arbeiten, bedeutete besonders für die französischsprachigen Bibliotheken viel Umstellung und Flexibilität. Die Arbeit mit deutschen Begriffen wie zum Beispiel die Berufsbegriffe in der GND erfordert sowohl von der NEBIS-Verbundzentrale wie auch von den französischsprachigen Bibliotheken einen ausserordentlichen Effort. Der NEBIS-Verbund wird auch künftig darauf angewiesen sein, dass die französische Übersetzung der RDA sowie die Übersetzung der Anwendungsregeln möglichst aktuell bleibt. Zudem wird auch im Bereich GND weiterhin eine flexible und geduldige Arbeitsweise aller Beteiligten erforderlich sein.

    Abstract
    The paper provides an illustration of the benefits of subject authority control improving multilingual subject access in NEBIS - Netzwerk von Bibliotheken und Informationsstellen in der Schweiz. This example of good practice focuses on some important aspects of classification and indexing. NEBIS subject authorities comprise a classification scheme and multilingual subject descriptor system. A bibliographic system supported by subject authority control empowers libraries as it enables them to expand and adjust vocabulary and link subjects to suit their specific audience. Most importantly it allows the management of different subject vocabularies in numerous languages. In addition, such an enriched subject index creates re-usable and shareable source of subject statements that has value in the wider context of information exchange. The illustrations and supporting arguments are based on indexing practice, subject authority control and use of classification in ETH-Bibliothek, which is the largest library within the NEBIS network.

    Abstract
    Current digital preservation is strongly biased towards data objects: digital files of document-style objects, or encapsulated and largely self-contained objects. To provide authenticity and provenance information, comprehensive metadata models are deployed to document information on an object's context. Yet, we claim that simply documenting an objects context may not be sufficient to ensure proper provenance and to fulfill the stated preservation goals. Specifically in e-Science and business settings, capturing, documenting and preserving entire processes may be necessary to meet the preservation goals. We thus present an approach for capturing, documenting and preserving processes, and means to assess their authenticity upon re-execution. We will discuss options as well as limitations and open challenges to achieve sound preservation, speci?cally within scientific processes.

    Abstract
    The authors describe a flexible model and a system for content-based image retrieval of objects' shapes. Flexibility is intended as the possibility of customizing the system behavior to the user's needs and perceptions. This is achieved by allowing users to modify the retrieval function. The system implementing this model uses multiple representations to characterize some macroscopic characteristics of the objects shapes. Specifically, the shape indexes describe the global features of the object's contour (represented by the Fourier coefficients), the contour's irregularities (represented by the multifractal spectrum), and the presence of concavities and convexities (represented by the contour scale space distribution). During a query formulation, the user can specify both the preference for the macroscopic shape aspects that he or she considers meaningful for the retrieval, and the desired level of accuracy of the matching, which means that the visual query shape must be considered with a given tolerance in representing the desired shapes. The evaluation experiments showed that this system can be suited to different retrieval behaviors, and that, generally, the combination of the multiple shape representations increases both recall and precision with respect to the application of any single representation.

    Abstract
    Außerdem wurden die Pläne, Erwartungen und Befürchtungen der WU-Bibliothek im Zusammenhang mit Primo festgehalten. Aufgrund eines Vergleichs von Informationen aus Experteninterviews sollen anschließend bewährte Vorgehensweisen für andere Institutionen und Verbünde, die den Einsatz der Search & Discovery-Software planen, identifiziert werden. Zu diesem Zweck wurden Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare aus wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken befragt, die in den Einführungsprozess involviert waren. Dies sind im Speziellen Angestellte der Universitätsbibliothek Mannheim, der Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Tirol in Innsbruck, der Universitätsbibliothek Wien und der Bibliothek der ETH Zürich, zugleich Host des Schweizer NEBIS-Verbunds. Ergänzend wurde als Primo-Host der österreichischen Bibliotheken die Österreichische Bibliothekenverbund und Service Gesellschaft mbH (OBVSG) kontaktiert. Dabei wurden von den Projektverantwortlichen insbesondere die Erwartungen vor dem Einsatz von Primo erfragt, aber auch mit welchen Hürden und Problemen die Implementierung der Software verbunden war. Ein Vergleich der erhaltenen Informationen erlaubt einen Rückschluss auf generell erhoffte Veränderungen durch die Einführung des Systems und häufig auftretende Ereignisse im Projektverlauf. Verglichen werden dabei nicht nur die Angaben der Primo einsetzenden Bibliotheken untereinander, sondern auch deren Erfahrungen mit den von Ex Libris angenommenen Projektverläufen. Abschließend werden auch noch die Erwartungen der WU-Bibliothek mit den gesammelten Informationen verglichen.
