    Abstract
    GESIS - Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften betreibt mit dem Volltext-Server SSOAR und der Registrierungsagentur für sozialwissenschaftliche Forschungsdaten dalra zwei Plattformen zum Nachweis von wissenschaftlichen Ergebnissen in Form von Publikationen und Primärdaten. Beide Systeme setzen auf einen konsequenten Einsatz von Persistenten Identifikatoren (URN und DOI), was die Verknüpfung der durch dalra registrierten Daten mit den Volltextdokumenten aus SSOAR sowie anderen Informationen aus den GESIS-Beständen ermöglicht. Zusätzlich wird durch den Einsatz von semantischen Technologien wie SKOS und RDF eine Verbindung zum Semantic Web hergestellt.

    Abstract
    Das Profil einer Hochschule und ihre Attraktivität für Studierende und Professoren hängt ganz entscheidend davon ab, welche Serviceleistungen im Bereich der wissenschaftlichen Information angeboten werden. Bibliotheken können hier eine aktive Rolle bei der Exzellenzbildung von Universitäten übernehmen. Die zukünftige Bedeutung einer Bibliothek wird am Nutzen gemessen werden, den sie ihren Kunden bietet. Traditionelle Dienstleistungen wie Sammeln, Bereitstellen, Zugänglichmachen von Information sind selbstverständlich noch immer relevant, müssen aber ständig neuen Technologien und Nutzerwünschen angepasst werden. Hat man vor nicht allzu langer Zeit noch Kataloge und Referenzmittel vom gedruckten auf das elektronische Medium umgestellt, so arbeitet man heute allerorts an der Verknüpfung lokaler, regionaler und globaler Ressourcen (Online-Kataloge, elektronische Zeitschriften, beschreibende und Volltext-Datenbanken, Internetquellen, digitalisierte Objekte usw.) in digitalen Portalen, verbessert und verfeinert diese Plattformen bezüglich Funktionalität, Inhalt und Services. Zu diesen Verbesserungen zählen z.B. die Erstellung persönlicher Suchprofile, intuitiv geleitete und verknüpfte Suchanfragen, nahtloses Verlinken auf den Volltext direkt aus der Suche, automatisierte Benachrichtigungsdienste, elektronisches Lernen (e-learning), Erschließung und Bewertung von wissenschaftlich relevanten Internetquellen, außerdem elektronisches Publizieren von Dissertationen, Kursmaterial, multimedialen Dokumenten, Preprints und Forschungsdaten auf dem eigenen Server sowie Sichtbarmachen des so genannten wissenschaftlichen Internets, das weitgehend mit technischen Zugangsschranken versehen ist (meist unbekannte Server von Forschungsgruppen, Fakultäten, Hochschulschriften). Mit einer Suchanfrage werden diese unterschiedlichen Ouellen in ihren verschiedenen Datenformaten abgefragt. All dies bedarf anderer Rahmenbedingungen und Arbeitsabläufe sowie neuer Kompetenzen seitens der Mitarbeiter- immer vorausgesetzt, die neue Rolle wird von der gesamten Einrichtung und dem Personal akzeptiert. Über die Möglichkeiten der bestehenden, digitalen Bibliotheken hinaus zu denken, dazu animierte diese Konferenz. Das gesamte angebotene Informationsspektrum muss analysiert und neu definiert werden und bietet Bibliothek, Medienzentrum, Rechenzentrum, Universitätsverlag und Hochschule die Chance, sich gemeinsam strategisch zu positionieren und sich für die Zukunft zu orientieren. Das Hauptziel muss dabei sein, einen besseren Nutzen für die Kunden zu erreichen.
