- Abstract
- Die Hirnforschung, an der Naturwissenschaftler ebenso beteiligt sind wie Psychologen und Philosophen, ist eines der faszinierendsten und meistdiskutierten Untersuchungsgebiete. Eine wichtige Frage, auf die sich das Augenmerk der Wissenschaftler richtet, ist: Wie werden kognitive Leistungen durch neuronale Prozesse realisiert? Obwohl die Kognitionswissenschaftler immer mehr über Leistungen wie Wahrnehmung, Denken und Lernen erfahren, und die Neurobiologen immer besser die Vorgänge im Gehirn verstehen, ist der Zusammenhang von Kognition und Gehirn noch weitgehend unverstanden. Fortschritte lassen sich erzielen, indem experimentalpsychologische und neurobiologische Untersuchungen zusammengeführt und integriert werden. - Das neue Lexikon der Mathematik bietet in insgesamt ca. 17.000 Stichworteinträgen einen umfassenden Überblick über die moderne Mathematik, ihre Fachterminologie und ihre Anwendungen. Die behandelten Fachgebiete reichen von so klassischen Fachgebieten wie Geometrie, Zahlentheorie oder auch Geschichte der Mathematik über Numerische Mathematik, Graphentheorie, Versicherungsmathematik und Optimierung bis hin zu modernsten Anwendungen wie etwa Wavelets, kryptographischen und Codierungsverfahren oder Neuronale Netze. Besondere Berücksichtigung fanden bei der Konzeption des Lexikons die Biographien bedeutender Mathematikerinnen und Mathematiker, von der Antike (Diophant, Euklid) bis hin zur Gegenwart (Collatz, Faltings, Hirzebruch). Dadurch wurde dem Umstand Rechnung getragen, dass gerade in der Mathematik eine Fülle von Verfahren, Methoden oder auch Lehrsätzen existiert, die nach Persönlichkeiten benannt sind, von denen der Leser gerne etwas mehr erfahren möchte, so z.B. 'abelsche Gruppe', 'Satz des Pythagoras', 'euklidischer Algorithmus' oder 'Gaußsche Normalverteilung'

- Abstract
- In Simulationen treten bei Robotern innere Zustände immer dann auf, wenn Katastrophen wie der eigene Totalausfall drohen. Die bekannten Robotergesetze von Isaac Asimov sind schon mehr als 75 Jahre alt. Systematisch untersucht wurden sie bislang nicht, obgleich durch die technische Entwicklung in der Computertechnik das Erstellen von Regeln für Roboter immer drängender wird: Autonome Fahrzeug fahren auf unseren Straßen, das EU-Parlament diskutiert Roboterrechte und nicht nur der Deutsche Ethikrat befasst sich mit Pflegerobotern. Gunter Laßmann hat in seinem eBook Asimovs Robotergesetze philosophisch und technisch untersucht: Asimovs Robotergesetze. Was leisten sie wirklich?" Er erörtert, was ein Roboter ist und wie ein solcher Roboter nach dem heutigen Stand der Technik "denken" würde. Diskutiert wird, inwieweit Roboter individuell sein könnten und wer die Verantwortung für den Roboter trägt. Alle drei Robotergesetze werden erstmals simuliert, was teilweise zu unerwarteten Ergebnissen führt. Die Roboter werden durch Hinzunahme von Lernen weiterentwickelt, es werden die Unterschiede zwischen regelbasiertem Lernen und Deep Learning dargestellt und am aktuellen Beispiel erläutert.

- Abstract
- Diese Festschrift ist Professor Wolfgang G. Stock anlässlich seiner Pensionierung im Jahr 2019 gewidmet. Seit 2003 war Stock Nachfolger von Professor Norbert Henrichs für den Lehrstuhl Informationswissenschaft an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. Er beeinflusste dabei die heutige Ausrichtung des Studiengangs in besonderem Maße und prägte mit mehr als 300 vielfältigen und interdisziplinären Artikeln die informationswissenschaftliche Publikationslandschaft. Anlässlich seiner Pensionierung präsentiert diese Festschrift eine bunte Vielfalt an Beiträgen, welche die vielen Facetten von Stocks Wirken beleuchten und seine Leistungen als Universitätsprofessor, Wissenschaftler und Mentor würdigen sollen. Die Beiträge zeigen dabei sowohl Stocks Tätigkeiten in der Forschung hinsichtlich diverser Themen und Kollaborationen auf als auch seine Bedeutung für die informationswissenschaftliche Lehre.
