    In Wien geboren, vor den Nazis nach London emigriert, dort zunächst Mitarbeiter, dann von 1959 bis 1976 Direktor des 'Warburg-Instituts für Kunstwissenschaften', gehört der heute 85jährige Ernst H. Gombrich zu den einflußreichsten Kunsthistorikern. Sein Buch 'Die Geschichte der Kunst' ist ein von Laien wie Fachleuten geschätzter Longseller.     "Glücklicherweise hat uns die Natur - schon von unseren Tiervorfahren her - ein Gehirn mit auf den Weg gegeben, das uns nicht nur dazu befähigt, sondern geradezu dazu zwingt, immer wieder den Weg von einer Informationsgesellschaft in eine Wissensgesellschaft zu suchen". Mit dieser These leitete Hubert Markl, Präsident der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in München, seine Zukunftsvision 'im globalen Informationsnetzwerk' ein. Markl erhielt am 22. Juni den Herbert Quandt-Medien-Preis und bedankte sich mit einer großen Festrede, aus der wir den Schlußteil dokumentieren
