    Abstract
    Wie müssen wir virtuelle Rundgänge und Online-Tutorials gestalten, damit sie ihre Zielgruppe auch wirklich erreichen? Worauf müssen wir bei einer guten Präsentation unseres OPACs achten? Was machen wir mit großen Schülergruppen? Diesen Fragen stellten sich insgesamt 22 Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare in Münster und Köln während zweier Fortbildungsveranstaltungen des HBZ im Juni 2003. Ziel der jeweils zweitägigen Workshops, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der Adhoc-Arbeitsgruppe "Informationskompetenz" der AG der Universitätsbibliotheken im VBNW konzipiert wurden, waren Konzepte und erste Schritte zur Umsetzung von elektronischen Angeboten zur Vermittlung von Bibliotheksbzw. Informationskompetenz. Dem voraus ging die konstruktive Bewertung von bereits existierenden Materialien, die zum einen von den Teilnehmern aus ihren Bibliotheken mitgebracht wurden, zum anderen über Bibliotheks-Homepages abrufbar waren. Die Teilnehmer, die in ihren Bibliotheken bereits Benutzerschulungen konzipieren und durchführen, beschäftigten sich dabei in Gruppen u.a. mit den Themen - Virtuelle Rundgänge, - Online-Tutorials - Bibliothekseinführungen für Schüler und Erstsemester - Präsentationen von Online-Katalog und Methoden zur Literatursuche. Im Folgenden werden einige wesentliche und manchmal durchaus kontrovers diskutierte Ergebnisse und Thesen wiedergegeben, die sich aus der Arbeit der Teilnehmer ergeben haben. Sie erheben keinen Anspruch auf Ausgewogenheit oder Vollständigkeit, können aber als Anregungen und Diskussionsgrundlage für zukünftige Projekte dienen.

    Abstract
    Immer mehr deutschen Unternehmen verlagen Fertigungsstätten in Niedriglohnländer Osteuropas oder Südostasiens. Die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Standorts Deutschland wird von Wirtschaft und Politik infragegestellt. Aber auch ausländische Investoren zögern, am Standort Deutschland zu investieren. Neben den bekannten Hemmnissen wie hohen Personalkosten und Personalnebenkosten sowie niedrigen Arbeitszeiten wird immer wieder auch der Faktor Information genannt, der Investitionen verhindert. In einer repräsentativen Umfrage bei potentiellen Investoren in 10 Industrieländern - u.a. USA, Japan, Frankreich und Großbritannien - gaben immerhin fast 40% der Befragten die mangelnde Transparenz als entscheidendes Hemmnis für Sachinvestitionen in Deutschland an. Andererseits 'verschlafen' deutsche Unternehmen Chancen auf Exportmärkten nicht zuletzt aufgrund fehlender Informationen, wie aktuelle Beispiele in Südostasien und Lateinamerika belegen. Es stellt sich daher die Frage, inwieweit der Faktor Information die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Standorts Deutschland unterstützt

    Abstract
    Die baden-württembergischen Hochschulbibliotheken engagieren sich seit Jahren auf dem Gebiet der Vermittlung von Informationskompetenz und realisieren auf lokaler Ebene zahlreiche Veranstaltungs- und Lernangebote. Um die dadurch gewonnenen Erfahrungen und Konzepte wechselseitig nutzen zu können und neue Impulse für die weitere Einbindung von Schulungskursen in die Studiengänge zu gewinnen, haben sich die Landes- und Hochschulbibliotheken zu einer festeren Zusammenarbeit entschlossen und im Frühjahr 2005 das Netzwerk Informationskompetenz Baden-Württemberg (NIK-BW) begründet. Ein gemeinsamer Internetauftritt und regelmäßige Informationstreffen, an denen jeweils ein(e) Vertreter(in) der Universitäts-, Hochschul- und Landesbibliotheken teilnimmt, sind die wichtigsten Eckpunkte der landesweiten Kooperation auf dem Gebiet der Kompetenzvermittlung. Initiiert werden sollen u.a. gezielte Fortbildungsveranstaltungen für die mit Schulungsaufgaben betrauten Fachreferenten bzw. Diplomkräfte und wirksame E-Learning-Angebote, auch unter Nutzung universitärer E-Learning-Plattformen.

    Abstract
    Die Forderungen nach einer neuen Informationsinfrastruktur bzw, einem integrierten Informationsmanagement an den Hochschulen sind nicht originell, gewinnen aber unter dem Eindruck u.a. der Empfehlungen des Wissenschaftsrats zur digitalen Informationsversorgung durch Hochschulbibliotheken sowie ähnlicher Initiativen (DINI, DFG usw.) an Bedeutung. Es geht dabei bekanntlich um den Verbund von Rechenzentrum, Bibliothek, Medienzentrum sowie den Informationseinrichtungen der Fachbereiche. Auch von publizistischer und von informationswissenschaftlicher Seite wird eine Reform des Informationssystems an den Hochschulen gefordert teilweise allerdings mit unsachlichen und verzerrenden Argumenten, was die Funktion der Bibliothek und die Rolle der Bibliothekare betrifft. Diesen wird nur bedingt zugetraut im Kontext einer neuen Informationsstruktur als Informations- und Wissensmanager zu agieren. Der vorliegende Beitrag versteht sich insofern als "aufklärerisch" und versucht, aus der praktischen Sicht einer Universitätsbibliothek Zerrbilder über "die" Bibliothek und "die" Bibliothekare zu korrigieren, darüber hinaus Gedanken zum bibliothekarischen Wissensmanagement der Zukunft zu entwickeln.
