    Abstract
People who work in a research, academic or business environemtn often have personal information collections which are large enough to need retrieval aids. A major difference between personal information retrieval and standard information retrieval is that the items to be retrieved are often associated with events in the searcher's life and ca be retrieved by their relationship of other events as well as by content. Describes the background to evenet based retrieval and describes a prototype graphical event based retrieval system, developed at Kent University, UK, employing the hive event browser

    Abstract
The Centre for the Study of Cartoon and Caricature, Kent University, has a large collection of over 80.000 original cartoon drawings of 20th century British newspaper cartoons that is used as a research resource and is also consulted as a picture library. The collection has been extensively catalogues by subject, but the subject keywords are organized for the original card catalogue rather than the present day OPAC. Describes a project to build a thesaurus based on the 15.000 existing subject terms and then convert the exisitng catalogue to the new thesaurus terms

    Abstract
Prism is a retrieval system that provides an online catalogue for a collection of original cartoon drawings at the Univ. of Kent. The article starts with a general discussion of graphical user interfaces for retrieval systems and then describes the Prism sysem itself. Prism is unusual in that it has largely direct manipulation graphical user interface and also in that it stores and displays digitised images of the cartoon drawings along with conventional textual catalogue records
