- Dieser Forschungsbericht ist die überarbeitete Fassung des 1979 fertiggestellten Ergebnisberichts über die zweite Phase des von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft finanzierten Projekts "Benutzerforschung II". - Abstract
- Die Analyse des Verhaltens von Benutzern von Informationssystemen stellt einen Kern der Informationswissenschaft dar. Die Sammlung von umfangreichen Verhaltensdaten fällt mit den heutigen technischen Möglichkeiten leicht. Der Artikel fasst Möglichkeiten und Chancen der Analyse von Log-Dateien zusammen. Der Track LogCLEF wird vorgestellt, der Forschern erstmals die Möglichkeit eröffnet, mit den denselben Log-Dateien und somit vergleichend arbeiten zu können. Die Datengrundlage und einige Ergebnisse von LogCLEF werden vorgestellt.

- Abstract
- In der vorgestellten Studie aus dem Bereich des interaktiven Information Retrieval wurde erstmals die Erwartungshaltung von Suchmaschinennutzern als mögliche Determinante der Benutzerzufriedenheit untersucht. Das experimentelle Untersuchungsdesign basiert auf einem betriebswirtschaftlichen Modell, das die Entstehung von Kundenzufriedenheit durch die Bestätigung bzw. Nicht-Bestätigung von Erwartungen erklärt. Ein zentrales Ergebnis dieser Studie ist, das bei der Messung von Benutzerzufriedenheit besonders auf den Messzeitpunkt zu achten ist. Des Weiteren konnte ein von der Systemgüte abhängiger Adaptionseffekt hinsichtlich der Relevanzbewertung der Benutzer nachgewiesen werden.

- Abstract
- Im Rahmen eines Projektseminars am Institut für Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin wurden an wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken Benutzerbefragungen durchgeführt. Wir haben die Antworten auf eine Frage zum Informationsverhalten bibliotheksübergreifend statistisch ausgewertet. Neben Unterschieden zwischen Fächern stellen wir fest, dass sich das Informationsverhalten junger Bibliotheksnutzer oft erheblich von dem älterer Nutzer unterscheidet. Das Verhalten von Bibliotheksnutzern hinsichtlich der Häufigkeit der Nutzung von Bibliotheksangeboten und dem World Wide Web (WWW) ist vorwiegend ähnlich. Nutzer mit konträrem Verhalten sind unterrepräsentiert gegenüber denen, die beides, Bibliothek und Web, oft oder beides wenig nutzen.

- Abstract
- In diesem Beitrag wird eine Studie vorgestellt, die eine beobachtende Perspektive auf affektive Phänomene entlang des Websuchprozesses eröffnet. Untersuchungsgegenstände sind Art, Häufigkeit und Intensität von Gefühlsausschlägen, die Auslöser von emotionalen Reaktionen sowie der Zusammenhang zwischen Gefühlsausschlägen und bestimmten Aktionsmerkmalen. Die Websuche zeigt sich als gefühlsintensive Tätigkeit. Besonders häufige Auslöser von Gefühlsausschlägen stehen in enger Beziehung zu erwarteter Relevanz und Relevanzbewertung. Bei Auslösern von besonders intensiven emotionalen Reaktionen ist der optische Eindruck einer Webseite ein wichtiger Faktor. Weiterer Untersuchungsbedarf zeigt sich vor allem in der Frage der Rolle affektiver Vorgänge innerhalb des Relevanzkonzeptes.

- Abstract
- Suchmaschinen stellen eine wichtige Möglichkeit dar, um neue Informationen oder Webseiten im Internet zu finden. Das Online-Marketing wurde dadurch verstärkt auf das Suchmaschinen-Marketing ausgerichtet, bei dem vor allem darauf geachtet wird, dass man in Suchmaschinen gut sichtbar ist. Bei der effizienten Planung von Marketing-Aktionen ist es deshalb wichtig, nicht nur profunde Kenntnisse über die Funktionsweise von Suchmaschinen zu haben, sondern auch das Suchverhalten von Suchmaschinennutzern zu untersuchen und die Ergebnisse geeignet umzusetzen. In diesem Beitrag wird auf die Erforschung des Suchverhaltens im Web und auf die Interaktion von Menschen mit Suchmaschinen ab 1997 eingegangen. In erster Linie werden verschiedene Erhebungsmethoden erklärt und Analysen vorgestellt. Es wird auch diskutiert, wie die Ergebnisse umgesetzt werden können, um die Auffindbarkeit von Webseiten zu verbessern.

- Abstract
- Anfang 1994 eröffnete die SWB-Verbundzentrale einen TELNET-Recherchezugang für Endnutzer zur SWB-Datenbank. Damit bot sich zugleich die Möglichkeit, ein Feedback über die Recherchebedürfnisse und -strategien von Endnutzern zu erhalten: zum einen durch eine statistische Erfassung der Nutzerrecherchen über einen Zeitraum von 7 Monaten, zum anderen durch auswertung von E-Mail- Nachrichten der Endnutzer mit Stellungnahmen zur angebotenen Rechercheschnittstelle. Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung werden unter dem Gesichtspunkt vorgestellt, welche Vorgaben sich aus ihnen für die Gestaltung einer geplanten WWW-Recherche-Oberfläche für die SWB-Verbunddatenbank ableiten lassen
