    Abstract
The successful implementation of Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) requires a previous design based on a methodology that includes key steps as follows: capture of critical information and analysis of the current document situation: functional and/or technical options that involve the treatment of the document fonds considered; document management applications design (data, text, images, audio, video) under a functional, technical and economic focus; global and modular project defined as a strategic EDMS plan

    Abstract
A discussion of the importance of clear cataloguing policies and routines as the basis of quality control, in relation to the methods used in the College of Mexico Library. The fundamental principle is to prevent errors occuring rather than to correct them subsequently. Indices of quality and effiency in relation to errors which do and do not affect retrieval, established through monthly review of samples of the work of each cataloguer, are used to monitor activities and ensure high standards. This process, essentially collaborative, promotes an overall culture of quality

    Abstract
A systematic literature review is carried out, detailing the research topics and the methods and techniques used in information science in studies published between 2000 and 2019. The results obtained allow us to affirm that there is no consensus on the core topics of information science, as these evolve and change dynamically in relation to other disciplines, and with the dominant social and cultural contexts. With regard to the research methods and techniques, it can be stated that they have mostly been adopted from social sciences, with the addition of numerical methods, especially in the fields of bibliometric and scientometric research.

    Abstract
Reproduces the opening session of the Madrid Conference on 'Foundations of Information Science' organized by the university Carlos III of Madrid and the University of Saragossa, in July 94. This conference was an attempt to rescue information as a central scientific tool and put it into a new context so as to serve as a basis for a fundamental disciplinary development. The novelty of the conference was that, instead of attempting a precise 'atomic' definition, information was understood as related to a widespread network of processes potentially involving the integration of subatomic molecular, cellular, computational, human and social occurences, demanding both a unifying and a multiperspective approach

    Abstract
Shows the possibilities that exist to create a basic hypertext interface for a thesaurus management system. The project has been built in 3 stages: conceptual data model for the thesaurus; development of the management tools, that is, the thesaurus management system; and the hypertext interfaces. The system has been developed on Windows and combines the power of relational database management systems and the navigational flexibility of Guide, a hypertext shell. presents 2 interface models. Concludes that hypertext interfaces improve management, and open a new path for knowledge organization research

    Abstract
Identifies those skills required by a library and information science graduate. Describes a method for teaching UDC based on an analytic-synthetic approach to classification structure and function. This method reduces the practical time needed for learning UDC

    Abstract
The use of the Internet offers new perspectives for public libraries, but accurate planning must be implemented to optimize these services. A connection must be established, and decisions made about what services to offer, and to whom. Other important aspects a re the training of staff and patrons, and resources editing. The main problems are seen as the differences between libraries, and the lack of a common policy. As the future scenario is difficult to foresee, the decisions to be adopted are complex

    Abstract
Outlines the more important typologies used to categorize documents between 1960-1990 using criteria such as media, primary and secondary publications and level of publication - published or unpublished materials. Contrasts these typologies with one obtained by applying a model of a documentary chain, with the aim of provoking a constructive debate leading to the standardization of the terminology
