Der Verlag hat einen Verlust von mehreren Millionen Euro für 2007 angekündigt. Das Geschäft mit Duden, Schulbuch und Kalendern laufe dagegen gut, sagte Holoch. Auch Themenlexika wie "Brockhaus Wein" sei en sehr erfolgreich. Auch Angebote wie der Brockhaus auf CD-Rom werden bleiben. In den vergangenen sechs, sieben Jahren habe der klassische Lexikon-Markt bereits gebröckelt. "Jetzt scheint das Internet den absoluten Durchbruch geschafft zu haben." Dass der Verlag die Kehrtwende zu spät vollzogen habe, bestreitet Holoch. Bei der Vorbereitung des Online-Angebots sei der Verlag aber "von der Marktentwicklung überholt" worden. Und: Beim Print Thema wollten wir wirklich alles probiert haben." Rund 60 Mitarbeiter in der Leipziger Online-Redaktion kümmern sich nun um das neue Produkt. "Der Stamm der Mannschaft, die an der letzten, seit Ende 2006 vollständigen Printausgabe arbeitete, wurde mit Online-Profis ergänzt", erklärt Holoch. Chefredakteurin wird Sigrun Albert, die zuvor die Redaktionen von "Brigitte.de" und "YoungMiss.de" leitete. Meyers Lexikon - es gehört ebenfalls zum Verlag Bibliographisches Institut & F.A.
