    Abstract
    ORCID schafft mit Services wie der eindeutigen Verknüpfung von Forschenden und ihren Publikationen die Basis moderner Wissenschaftskommunikation. Das ORCID-Deutschland-Konsortium bietet eine kostenreduzierte ORCID-Premiummitgliedschaft an und unterstützt die Mitglieder bei der erfolgreichen ORCID-Integration. Diese umfasst neben einer Dialogplattform mit deutschsprachigen Informationsmaterialien weitere Supportleistungen. Ein wichtiger Erfolgsfaktor ist außerdem eine umfassende Kommunikationsstrategie der ORCID-Implementierung. Hier können die Mitglieder auf etablierte Kommunikationskanäle innerhalb ihrer Einrichtungen zurückgreifen. Gemeinsam leisten sie mit der Unterstützung des ORCID-DE-Projekts einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur erfolgreichen Verbreitung von ORCID in Deutschland.

    Abstract
    This article describes the project to build the initial International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) database by deploying the techniques used to develop the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF). It focuses particularly on the work of the OCLC team in transforming the VIAF "resource file" model of matched data into a robust, operational, and authoritative file of uniquely assigned ISNIs as a base for an ongoing ISNI assignment system, and on the quality assurance validation of the database provided by the British Library and the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The need for future interaction between ongoing ISNI assignment and name authority control in libraries is also explored.

    Abstract
    Die Uneindeutigkeit von Personennamen erschwert im Rahmen der bibliothekarischen Erschließung die eindeutige Zuordnung von Autorinnen und Autoren zu ihren Werken. Bibliotheken im deutschsprachigen Raum adressieren das Problem der Mehrdeutigkeit von Namen durch den Einsatz der Gemeinsamen Normdatei (GND). Die internationale Initiative ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) verfolgt das gleiche Ziel. Akteur ist hier jedoch die einzelne Wissenschaftlerin oder der einzelne Wissenschaftler. Das Projekt "ORCID DE - Förderung der Open Researcher and Contributor ID in Deutschland" hat sich, dank der Förderung der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), unter anderem zum Ziel gesetzt, einen Brückenschlag zwischen den beiden Systemen - GND und ORCID - zu schaffen, um damit die Datenqualität beider Systeme wechselseitig zu erhöhen. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über ORCID und das Projekt ORCID DE. Dabei wird insbesondere auf die angestrebte Verlinkung von GND und ORCID eingegangen.

    Abstract
    This article discusses the implementation of the new cataloging code, Resource Description and Access (RDA), to the bibliographic and authority records of the LIBRUNAM catalog. In 2010, the Dirección General de Bibliotecas started analyzing this new cataloging code through the use of the RDA Toolkit and other documentation related to RDA. During this process, the core elements for bibliographic and authority records were identified and retrospective changes were automatically carried out using the Aleph Library Management System. For those records that needed modifications, manual updates were made, while RDA instructions were applied to new records. The updating of each element is described, including carrier and content types, preferred titles in the original language, and conventional and collective titles for religious works. Elements defined in Chapter 9 and Chapter 11, and relationship designators defined in Appendix K were added to authority records for personal names. These retrospective updates were made to 1,500,000 bibliographic records and 73,000 authority records. The adoption of the RDA code in LIBRUNAM accomplishes support for the main user tasks: Find, identify, select, and obtain.

    Abstract
    Bibliographic relationships are one of the most active research areas in knowledge organization, especially in cataloguing. This study attempts to examine and map the FRBR (Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records) bibliographic relationships with Tillett's taxonomy of bibliographic relationships, and to a ssess the congruence between them. The FRBR conceptual model provides a taxonomy of bibliographic relationships in chapter 5, illustrating them in 11 tables. This study shows that there is considerable congruence between these two taxonomies.

    Abstract
    Das internationale ORCID-Konsortium vernetzt Publizierende mit ihren Aufsätzen und Forschungsdaten über eine eindeutige ID. Weltweit besitzen bereits über 2 Millionen Forschende eine solche Kennung. Um ORCID in Deutschland zu fördern, wurde das Projektvorhaben "ORCID DE - Förderung der Open Researcher and Contributor ID in Deutschland" gebildet. Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) hat die Förderung des auf drei Jahre angelegten Projekts im Februar 2016 bewilligt. Durch die Integration in über 230 digitale Informationsinfrastrukturen erleichtert die Open Researcher and Contributor ID, kurz ORCID, die Pflege der Publikationsliste für Forscherinnen und Forscher. Die Idee dahinter ist folgende: Jede Person, die im wissenschaftlichen Arbeitsprozess einen Beitrag leistet, kann sich über die eindeutige ORCID-Kennung mit ihren Publikationen, Forschungsdaten und anderen Produkten des Forschungsprozesses (zum Beispiel Software) eindeutig vernetzen. Damit werden diese Objekte sichtbar und technisch verlässlich mit ihren Erschafferinnen und Erschaffern verbunden. ORCID bietet das Potenzial, bisher verteilte Informationen standardisiert zusammenzuführen und damit einen Überblick auf die Forschungsleistung von Forschenden zu ermöglichen. Durch die Offenheit des Systems und des großen internationalen Konsortiums ist ORCID auf dem Weg, ein langfristig gültiger Identifikator im wissenschaftlichen Alltag zu werden.
    Ziel des DFG-Projekts ORCID DE ist es, die vielerorts erwogene Implementierung der ORCID an Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen durch einen übergreifenden Ansatz nachhaltig zu unterstützen. Dabei stehen organisatorische, technische und rechtliche Fragen gleichermaßen im Fokus. Neben der Schaffung einer zentralen Anlaufstelle für Hochschulen und außeruniversitäre Forschungseinrichtungen sind die Vernetzung und Verbreitung der ORCID im Bereich von Open-Access-Repositorien und -Publikationdiensten sowie die Verzahnung mit der Gemeinsame Normdatei (GND) wesentliche Aspekte des Projekts. Projektpartner von ORCID DE sind das Helmholtz Open Science Koordinationsbüro am Deutschen GeoForschungsZentrum GFZ, die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek und die Universitätsbibliothek Bielefeld. Das Projekt wurde durch die Deutsche Initiative für Netzwerkinformation (DINI) initiiert.

The results suggest that cataloging practice (the hands-on creation of bibliographic records or catalog cards), the effectiveness of the instructor, a balance of theory and practice, and placing cataloging in a real-world context contribute to effective learning. However, more research is needed to determine how, and to what the extent, each element should be incorporated into beginning cataloging courses.

Mit diesem Release ist die deutsche Übersetzung auf demselben Stand wie die englische Originalausgabe vom April 2017.     Abstract
    As we move toward implementing RDA: Resource Description and Access, I have been pondering how we might manage the transition to new cataloging rules effectively. I was a practicing cataloger when Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, 2nd ed., was implemented and remember it as a traumatic process. The published literature that I found focused on the impact of the then-new rules on specific formats and genres, but no one seems to have addressed the process of implementation and what type of training worked well (or did not). After a bit of sleuthing, I found a pertinent presentation by Arlene G. Taylor, which she graciously agreed to repurpose as this guest editorial.

    Abstract
    Dominican University's Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) was one of a funnel group of graduate schools of library and information science selected to test RDA. A seminar specifically for this purpose was conducted from August to December 2010. Fifteen students participated in the test, creating records in AACR2 and in RDA, encoding them in the MARC format, and responding to the required questionnaires. In addition to record creation, the students were also asked to submit a final paper in which they described their experiences and recommended whether or not to accept RDA as a replacement for AACR2.

    Abstract
    Creativity is now a core requirement for successful organizations. Libraries, like all organizations, need to produce and utilize new ideas to improve user service and experiences. With changes in cataloging such as Resource Description and Access (RDA), the opportunity to rethink cataloging practices is here now. Everyone has creative potential, although catalogers may have both a personality and work environment that make it more difficult. To be able to maximize creative capacity, catalogers need the proper work environment, support from their organization, and a plan for accomplishing creative goals.     Abstract
    Die Open Researcher and Contributor ID, kurz ORCID, ist eine eindeutige Kennung für Forscherinnen und Forscher und ermöglicht die Verbindung zwischen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern mit ihren Aufsätzen, Forschungsdaten und weiteren Produkten des wissenschaftlichen Schaffens. Im Rahmen des dreijährigen DFG-Projektes "ORCID DE - Förderung der Open Researcher and Contributor ID in Deutschland" wird die vielerorts erwogene Implementierung der ORCID an Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen gefördert. Der vorliegende Beitrag bietet einen umfassenden Überblick über die Ergebnisse der im Rahmen des Projekts durchgeführten Umfrage zum Stand der Implementierung von ORCID an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen in Deutschland. Die Umfrage wurde im Zeitraum vom 13.07.2016 bis 03.08.2016 durchgeführt und bietet zahlreiche Erkenntnisse sowohl über den Stand der Implementierung von ORCID an wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen in Deutschland als auch über bestehende technische, rechtliche und organisatorische Hürden bei der Implementierung des Dienstes.

Aufgrund des 3R-Projekts (RDA Toolkit Restruction and Redesign Project) gab es keine inhaltlichen Änderungen am Regelwerkstext. Es wurden ausschließlich Änderungen an den D-A-CH vorgenommen, die in der Änderungsdokumentation im RDA-Info-Wiki<https://wiki.dnb.de/x/1hLSBg> aufgelistet sind. Die Gesamtübersicht der D-A-CH nach Kapiteln finden Sie im RDA Toolkit unter dem Reiter "Ressourcen". Wir möchten daran erinnern, dass für die Anwendung von RDA im deutschsprachigen Raum jeweils der deutsche Text maßgeblich ist. Im Juni 2018 wird das RDA Toolkit einen Relaunch erfahren und mit einer neuen Oberfläche erscheinen. Dieser beinhaltet ein Redesign der Toolkit-Oberfläche und die inhaltliche Anpassung des Standards RDA an das Library Reference Model (IFLA LRM) sowie die künftige stärkere Ausrichtung auf die aktuellen technischen Möglichkeiten durch den sogenannten 4-Fold-Path. Zunächst wird im Juni 2018 die englische Originalausgabe der RDA in der neuen Form erscheinen. Alle Übersetzungen werden in einer Übergangszeit angepasst. Hierfür wird die alte Version des RDA Toolkit für ein weiteres Jahr zur Verfügung gestellt. Der Stand Oktober 2017 der deutschen Ausgabe und die D-A-CH-Anwendungsrichtlinien bleiben bis zur Anpassung eingefroren.     Abstract
    This article describes in detail the library implementation of a Resource Description and Access (RDA) Enrichment project. The library "hybridized," or enriched legacy data from Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules bibliographic records by the addition of specific RDA elements. The project also cleaned up various other elements in the bibliographic data that were not directly RDA-related. There were over 28 million changes and edits made to these records, changes that would never have been made otherwise because the library lacked the resources to do them independently. The enrichment project made the bibliographic data consistent, and helped prepared the data for its eventual transition to a linked data environment.

    Abstract
    Libraries are currently seeking to restructure their services and develop new cataloguing standards to position themselves on the web, which has become the main source of information and documents. The current upheaval within the profession is accompanied by the belief that libraries have a major role to play in identifying and supplying content due to their extensive high quality databases, which remain untapped despite efforts to increase catalog performance. They continue to rely on a strategy that has been proven successful since the mid-nineteenth century while seeking other models for their data. Today, they aim to exploit changes brought about by the web to improve content identification. The current intense debate on RDA implementation mirrors this desire for change. The debate is rooted in past efforts and yet tries to incite radical changes as it provides for interoperability from the creation of records through an object modeling in line with web standards and innovations. These innovations are presented through an historical perspective inspired by writings by librarians who are entrusted with helping in the development of bibliographic description standards.
