    Abstract
    Will man sich auf dem weiten Feld der Datenverarbeitung die Entwicklungsstadien der letzten drei Jahrzehnte vergegenwärtigen, ist es hilfreich, mindestens vier Aspekte in den Blick zu nehmen: - Hardware: Industrie, Systeme - Software: Programmierung, Sprachen, Entwicklungssysteme - Software: Konkrete Anwendungsfelder, z.B. Bibliothekswesen - Bestimmte Anwendungssysteme, z.B. allegro-C Am Beispiel des an der UB Braunschweig entstandenen Systems allegro-C, dessen Entwicklung 1980 begann und bis heute andauert, lassen sich die Trends, die Evo- und Revolutionen der 30 Jahre nachverfolgen, und dies wird hier versucht. Die Stationen und Etappen der allegro-Geschichte sind knapp aufgelistet in einer Chronik, die ihrerseits im Kern eine spezialisierte allegro-Datenbank ist. Für die Anfangszeit bis Ende 1994 existiert eine ausführliche Darstellung der Entwicklung von Torsten Ahlers.

    Abstract
    Wir leiden an einer bedauerlichen Knappheit von Information über die Marktlage und Erfahrungen bei den bibliothekarischen DV-Systemen. Das ist jenseits des "Teiches" anders: Jedes Jahr veröffentlicht der Konsultant Marshall Breeding eine umfangreiche Marktübersicht und hält auf seiner Website eine Menge andere Berichte und interessante Übersichten bereit, z.B. "Migration Reports": https://librarytechnology.org/Library Technology Guides. Da sieht man in Tabellen, z.B. auch für Koha, wieviele Anwender von welchen Systemen insgesamt schon zu Koha gewandert sind, die Gesamtzahl ist 3.547! Zu Alma dagegen nur 1151, zu WMS 464, zu Aleph 1036. ("allegro-C" ist nicht dabei, aber es gab ja auch nie irgendwelche Anwender in USA, außer Goethe-Institute, aber die sind wohl nicht erfaßt.) Um das heftig umstrittene Thema RAK und AACR herauszugreifen,das imTagungsband ganz vorne steht: Auf die knappe, gleichwohl qualifizierte und nachdenkliche Einführung von Ulrich Hohoff folgen kurze, unbefangen kritische Statements von der Art, die man sich in der Fachdiskussion öfter wünschte - ohne die verbreitete, nicht selten pharisäische correctness. Bernhard Eversberg wird vielen Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus der Seele gesprochen haben, wenn er sagt: »Das Katalogisierungspersonal sollte frühzeitig die Möglichkeit zum Einblick in neue Texte und Entwürfe haben. Engagierte Mitarbeiterinnen wünschen sich Möglichkeiten, eigene Erfahrungen, Meinungen und Fragen einzubringen.« Oder, wenn er feststellt: »Technische Verbesserungen sind aber kein Ziel an sich. Wichtig ist zuallererst, die eigentlichen Ziele des Katalogisierens neu zu überdenken, zu erweitern oder zu modifizieren. Dies kann eine neue technische Grundlage nur unterstützen, nicht ersetzen. Zu den neuen Herausforderungen gehören vernetzte, internationalisierte Normdateien.« (beide Zitate S.75) - In eine etwas andere Richtung pointiert Heidrun Wiesenmüller das Thema: »Der Plan eines Umstiegs auf AACR2/MARC stellt nicht zuletzt den anachronistischen Versuch dar, eine heterogene Datenwelt durch Verordnung eines Standards von oben zu vereinheitlichen. Eine zeitgemäße Lösung kann jedoch nur darin bestehen, Tools und Informationssysteme auf Meta-Ebene zu entwickeln.« (S. 79) Dem ist zu diesem Thema nichts hinzuzufügen.
