Im Einzelnen bedeutet dies, dass DNB die bisherige Praxis, für Teilthemen mehrere Schlagwortfolgen (früher: Schlagwortketten) zu bilden aufgibt und, soweit möglich, den Dokumentinhalt in einer Schlagwortfolge zusammenfasst (Anwendung von § 13,3a durch DNB). Ab 1. April entfallen auch die Permutationsmuster in den bibliografischen Daten der DNB. In der Schlagwortfolge werden die Schlagwörter formal nach den Indikatoren - p, g, c/k, t, s, z, f - angeordnet, es sei denn der Sinnzusammenhang erfordert eine Abweichung (vgl. § 14). Von der DNB vergebenen Schlagwortfolgen sollen künftig mehr als die bisher möglichen 6 Schlagwörter umfassen können (vgl. § 13,1 Anmerkung, üblicherweise sind bis zu 10 Schlagwörter pro Folge möglich). Die technischen Vorarbeiten im Katalogisierungssystem der DNB sind dafür aber noch nicht abgeschlossen. Alle genannten Änderungen in der Erschließungspraxis der DNB beziehen sich nur auf den Neuzugang. Von DNB bereits erschlossenes Aitelmaterial wird nicht gemäß den neuen Regeln umgearbeitet oder korrigiert. Das bezieht sich auch auf Auflagen. Neue Auflagen, die ab dem 1. April bearbeitet werden, werden nach der neuen Praxis erschlossen; die vorherigen Auflagen werden nicht rückwirkend korrigiert. Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Punkte: 1. Pro Thema eine Schlagwortfolge (keine Parallelketten mehr); es wird in DNB § 13,3a angewandt. 2. Reihenfolge der Schlagwörter ist i. d. R. formal (p,g,c,k,t,s,z,f), es sei denn der Sinnzusammenhang erfordert etwas Anderes. 3. Keine intellektuell vergebenen Permutationsmuster mehr 4. Ein geografischer Bezug im Schlagwort wird in der Schlagwortfolge mit angegeben (vgl. § 13,2b; Wegfall des Pleonasmusverbots, als "Kibbuz-Regel" bekannt).
