    Abstract
This paper is based on the project work carries out by the authors at DRTC. Knowledge representation models are used in building intelligent systems for problem solving. The paper discusses, a frame based knowledge representation model built for automatic indexing. The system assigns POPSI indicators and produces subject strings for titles. The results are given in appendices

    Abstract
Reports results of a bibliometric study of the authorship characteristics of articles published in 4 major information science periodicals: JASIS, Information technology and libraries, Journal of information science, and Program. The aim was to determine the details of their authors, such as: sex, occupation, affiliation, geographic distribution, and institutional affiliation. A total of 163 articles published in 1993 and written by 294 authors were analyzed. Results indicate that: men (206 or 70%) publish 3.0 times more articles than women (69 or 23,5%). Schools of library and information science contributed the most authors. The majority of authors came from the USA (148 or 50,3%), with the Midwest region claiming the largest share (110 or 25,0%). Academic libraries (110 or 37,4%) account for the major share of library publication. 12 schools of library and information science, in the USA, contributed 32 authors (50,0%) and assistant professors (25 or 39,1%) publish the most in these library schools. Male school of library and information science authors publish 1,6 times more than their female counterparts

    Abstract
Purpose With the shift to an information-based society and to the de-centralisation of information, information overload has attracted a growing interest in the computer and information science research communities. However, there is no clear understanding of the meaning of the term, and while there have been many proposed definitions, there is no consensus. The goal of this work was to define the concept of "information overload". In order to do so, a concept analysis using Rodgers' approach was performed. Design/methodology/approach A concept analysis using Rodgers' approach based on a corpus of documents published between 2010 and September 2020 was conducted. One surrogate for "information overload", which is "cognitive overload" was identified. The corpus of documents consisted of 151 documents for information overload and ten for cognitive overload. All documents were from the fields of computer science and information science, and were retrieved from three databases: Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Digital Library, SCOPUS and Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA). Findings The themes identified from the authors' concept analysis allowed us to extract the triggers, manifestations and consequences of information overload. They found triggers related to information characteristics, information need, the working environment, the cognitive abilities of individuals and the information environment. In terms of manifestations, they found that information overload manifests itself both emotionally and cognitively. The consequences of information overload were both internal and external. These findings allowed them to provide a definition of information overload. Originality/value Through the authors' concept analysis, they were able to clarify the components of information overload and provide a definition of the concept.

    Abstract
Well chosen keywords in titles can be significant in enabling optimal document retrieval and title keyword searches employing the natural language of the researcher to augment controlled vocabulary searches. Authors and researchers interested in a particular topic share a vocabulary that contains keywords useful in database searching and it is important for authors to incorporate such keywords in their titles. Both authors and researchers will benefit if titles facilitate electronic access. Librarians can assist in educating on the benefits of using distinctive and selective keawords in titles by making guidelines available

    Abstract
The authors describe Lempel-Ziv to Compress Structure (LZCS), a novel Lempel-Ziv approach suitable for compressing structured documents. LZCS takes advantage of repeated substructures that may appear in the documents, by replacing them with a backward reference to their previous occurrence. The result of the LZCS transformation is still a valid structured document, which is human-readable and can be transmitted by ASCII channels. Moreover, LZCS transformed documents are easy to search, display, access at random, and navigate. In a second stage, the transformed documents can be further compressed using any semistatic technique, so that it is still possible to do all those operations efficiently; or with any adaptive technique to boost compression. LZCS is especially efficient in the compression of collections of highly structured data, such as extensible markup language (XML) forms, invoices, e-commerce, and Web-service exchange documents. The comparison with other structure-aware and standard compressors shows that LZCS is a competitive choice for these type of documents, whereas the others are not well-suited to support navigation or random access. When joined to an adaptive compressor, LZCS obtains by far the best compression ratios.
