    Abstract
Considers the relevance of Cutter's principles of bibliographic access to Internet accessible digital materials and explores new methods for applying these principles in the context of new information technologies. Examines the value for retrieval of collecting authors' names, identifying authors' roles, collocating works and versions, and providing subject access through classification and controlled vocabularies for digital resources available through the WWW. Identifies emerging technologies and techniques that may be used in lieu of or as a supplement to traditional cataloguing to achieve these functions in organizing access to Internet resources

    Abstract
Reports the benefits of using extensible markup language (XML) to support knowledge management of financial information. Current search engines cannot provide sufficient performance to support users of financial information, which includes both non-structured items and well-structured items. For investors, making a high-quality decision sometimes requires both. XML can help by providing tags to create structure. XML provides a vendor-neutral approach. XML authors can create arbitrary tags to describe the format or structure of data, and are not restricted to the tags in the specification for HTML. A prototype XML-based Electronic Financial Filing System (ELFFS-XML) has been developed to illustrate how to apply XML to model and add value to traditional HTML-based financial information by cross-linking related information from different data sources. Compares the functionality of XML-based ELFFS with the original HTML-based ELFFS and SEDAR, an electronic filing system used in Canada, and recommends some directions for future development of similar electronic filing systems.

    Abstract
The vast amount of scientific publications available online makes it easier for students and researchers to reuse text from other authors and makes it harder for checking the originality of a given text. Reusing text without crediting the original authors is considered plagiarism. A number of studies have reported the prevalence of plagiarism in academia. As a consequence, numerous institutions and researchers are dedicated to devising systems to automate the process of checking for plagiarism. This work focuses on the problem of detecting text reuse in scientific papers. The contributions of this paper are twofold: (a) we survey the existing approaches for plagiarism detection based on content, based on content and structure, and based on citations and references; and (b) we compare content and citation-based approaches with the goal of evaluating whether they are complementary and if their combination can improve the quality of the detection. We carry out experiments with real data sets of scientific papers and concluded that a combination of the methods can be beneficial.
