    Abstract
    Seit dem 6. Dezember 2001 steht fest: »Der Standardisierungsausschuss strebt grundsätzlich einen Umstieg von den deutschen auf internationale Regelwerke und Formate (AACR und MARC) an.« Ein Beschluss mit weitreichenden Folgen. Wie reagiert die deutsche »Bibliotheksszene« darauf? Inwieweit brächte ein Umstieg von RAK auf AACR Vor- bzw. Nachteile? Oder geht es gar nicht um einen Umstieg sondern um ein neues Regelwerk, das die Stärken von RAK als auch von AACR in sich vereinigt? Welche grundlegenden Veränderungen würden aus einem Regelwerkswechsel resultieren? Solchen und anderen Fragen geht diese Sammlung nach. In 19 aktuellen Beiträgen legen renommierte Autorinnen und Autoren ihre Sicht der Dinge dar. Es schreiben Vertreter wissenschaftlicher und öffentlicher Bibliotheken, der Spezialbibliotheken und der One-Person-Libraries sowie Repräsentanten bibliothekarischer Arbeitsgemeinschaften, der Verbünde, bibliographischer Dienste und der Berufsverbände. Der vorliegende Band verkörpert die erste kompakte Beitragssammlung zur Diskussion um RAK versus AACR. Ziel dieser Publikation ist es, den Regelwerksdiskurs in eine breitere Öffentlichkeit zu tragen. Sowohl die Autoren als auch die Herausgeberin und ihr Team von Studierenden der Bibliothekswissenschaft an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin hoffen mit dieser Veröffentlichung neue Denkanstöße zu geben und die Debatte zu vertiefen.
