    Abstract
    In einer Vielzahl von IuD-Einrichtungen wird das Problem diskutiert, in welcher Weise die Kosten für innerbetriebliche Informationsvermittlungsstellen für Management und Controlling sinnvoll dargestellt werden können. Hierbei sind die Probleme in der Praxis erheblich, so daß über neue Formen betriebswirtschaftlicher Informationssysteme nachgedacht werden muß. Da es sich beim Rohstoff Information um eine strategische Ressource handelt, ist es weniger verwunderlich, daß ein Großteil der IuD-Einrichtungen mit dem klassischen Erfassungswesen gescheitert ist. Somit ist für die Zukunft die Definition neuer Erfolgsfaktoren notwendig

    Abstract
    Sei es, daß in einem stark expandierenden Unternehmen ein neues Informationszentrum gegründet werden soll, sei es, daß im Rahmen der Rezession große Informations- und Dokumentationsabteilungen drastisch in ihrem Personalbestand eingeschränkt werden, sei es, daß neue Entwicklungsbereiche und -märkte die Nutzung anderer Informationsquellen erforderlich machen, die nicht zu den Standardwerkzeugen der IuD-Abteilungen gehören - in all diesen Fällen stellt sich die frage: wo erhalte ich außerhalb des Unternehmens schnell die kompetente Ergänzung, die die reibungslose Arbeit des Informationszentrums garantiert oder gar die Palette der angebotenen Dienstleistungen erweitert?

    Abstract
    Das BSZ hat in den letzten Jahren eine Vielzahl von Aufgaben übernommen: im Bereich "Digitale Bibliothek" wurden zahlreiche Projekte durchgeführt, deren Ergebnisse in den Produktionsbetrieb übernommen wurden. Weitere Schwerpunkte sind die Einführung eines Lokalsystems in Baden-Württemberg und das Angebot von Serviceleistungen für kleinere Einrichtungen. Der Betrieb der SWB-Datenbank, als Kernaufgabe des BSZ, wird durch weitere Dienstleistungen permanent verbessert.
