    Aus Sicht unserer Arbeitsgemeinschaften ist die weltweite Vereinheitlichung bibliothekarischer Standards nur dann wissenschaftspolitisch vertretbar und bibliothekarisch wünschbar, wenn die regionalen und fachlichen Differenzierungen nicht verloren gehen, die für die Optimierung der Dienstleistungen unserer Spezialbibliotheken unabdingbar sind. Eine Regelwerksumstellung produziert Kosten und bindet Kapazitäten, die für andere Zwecke dringend benötigt werden. Da für unsere Spezialbibliotheken die Katalogisierung nur eine untergeordnete, rein funktionale Aufgabe ist, die Arbeitskraft hingegen auf die wesentlichen Aufgaben konzentriert werden muss, die unsere Spezialbibliotheken ausmachen (vor allem die zeit- und arbeitsplatznahe Informationsbereitstellung, Informationsvermittlung bis hin zu persönlichen Beratungsgesprächen), ist zusätzlicher Aufwand auf diesem Gebiet besonders kritisch zu würdigen. Er ist gegenüber unseren Bibliotheksträgern nur dann zu rechtfertigen, wenn dem ein entsprechender Nutzen gegenübersteht. Dies ist aus unserer Sicht weder für unsere Bibliotheken noch für deren Benutzer der Fall. Da die institutionellen Träger unserer Spezialbibliotheken angesichts des fehlenden Nutzens kaum von Sonderaufwendungen finanzieller oder personeller Art zu überzeugen sein werden, ist davon ausgehen, dass mit der in dieser Form vorgesehenen Regelwerksumstellung bei einer großen Zahl der Spezialbibliotheken keine Umstellung erfolgen wird und somit in Zukunft die gerade sehr mühsam erreichte und weitgehende einheitliche Anwendung von Katalogisierungsregeln nicht mehr existieren wird. Wir appellieren daher an die Beteiligten, den Umstieg auf AACR zurückzustellen und die Regelwerksarbeit zukunftsorientiert an oben skizzierten Anforderungen bibliothekarischer Praxis zu orientieren, dabei die Bedürfnisse der Spezialbibliotheken einzubeziehen und die Frage der Implementation von Regelwerksänderungen besonders sorgfältig zu bedenken. - Arbeitsgemeinschaft für juristisches Bibliotheks- und Dokumentationswesen (AjBD) - Arbeitsgemeinschaft katholisch-theologischer Bibliotheken (AKThB) Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Kunst- und Museumsbibliotheken (AKMB) - Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Parlaments- und Behördenbibliotheken (APBB) - Verband kirchlich-wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken (VkwB) in der Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Archive und Bibliotheken in der evangelischen Kirche (AABevK)."
