    Abstract
    Seit dem 1. April 2008 wird ein Großteil der Datenbanken des GBV unter einer neuen auf XML basierenden Benutzeroberfläche angeboten. Mittelfristig ist geplant, sämtliche Datenbanken auf die Verwendung dieser neuen Technik umzustellen. Unabhängig von der Umstellung wurden neue Funktionalitäten in die Benutzeroberflächen der GBV-Datenbanken integriert, die ebenfalls kurz vorgestellt werden.

    Abstract
    Im Rahmen der Dienstleistungen von Bibliotheken sind Datenbankangebote von zentraler Bedeutung. Zum einen sind Bibliotheken Datenbankproduzenten, wie etwa im Falle von Verbundkatalogen oder OPACs, zum anderen wenden sie erhebliche Mittel zur Lizenzierung der Nutzung von bibliographischen Datenbanken auf. Angesichts der dadurch gebundenen personellen und finanziellen Ressourcen ist eine Evaluierung der Qualität von Datenbankprodukten unabdingbar. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden mögliche Beurteilungskriterien für die Qualität von bibliographischen Datenbanken diskutiert und zu den verschiedenen Teilschritten von Datenbankentwicklung und -produktion in Beziehung gesetzt. Dadurch werden Perspektiven einer zielgerichteten und effizienten Erstellung und Weiterentwicklung von bibliothekarischen und dokumentarischen Datenbankangeboten aufgezeigt. Weiterhin werden exemplarisch Untersuchungsergebnisse zur Qualität von bibliographischen Datenbanken vorgestellt. Der konsequente Einsatz der dazugehörigen Prüfverfahren stellt etwaige Auswahlentscheidungen zwischen konkurrierenden Datenbankprodukten auf eine fundierte Basis und versetzt Bibliotheken in die Lage, Endnutzer besser über Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Nutzung der jeweils im Angebot befindlichen Datenbanken zu informieren.
