    Abstract
The Norwegian Dewey is a shortened version of the 19th ed, Changes are now so comprehensive that a new Norwegian ed. is necessary. The Norwegian Dewey is widely used in public and school libraries. While the large special libraries use the English version, they supplement it with the Norwegian edition and use it as a source of subject headings. A seminar held in April 1997 in Oslo discussed the issue and agreed on the need for a new Norwegian edition. The National Library should in future have editorial responsibility, but the next publication, expected in 1999, will be the Norwegian Library Association's task

    Abstract
Describes the present state of catalogue automation and searching in commercial on-line data bases. The first user studies showed that automated catalogues were greatly appreciated. Other user studies are still in progress.

    Abstract
BIBSYS is now the central bibliographic database for the 4 universities and over 30 research libraries. In 1992 it was developed to allow researchers to resister information directly in the base and this year it will be available as a union catalogue of research documentation. It will eventually be freely accessible without password and all searchers will automatically be offered information on Norwegian research projects, but success depends on development of a network of cooperating institutions

    Abstract
Network-based documents should be registered in the library's catalogue system in the same way as all other resources, but problems arise from the fact that they refer to intellectual content rather than physical entities. Bibsys uses MARC field 856 based on a system of address developed by Internet experts. The WWW service was developed using existing models of address such as URL. But URL does not provide a system of unambiguous and szable document names with locations; for this a combination of ISBN and a local shelf mark is required. An international structure for URN could be in place soon. The Norwegian National Library should begin to preparer for this with a continuation of ISBN and ISSN for net documents within a URN framework

    Abstract
A 3 year programme for electronic conversion of the card catalogues began in Autumn 94 prioritising ongoing projects: the Arts faculty institutes' catalogues, the Norwegian union catalogue of books, and the main library's older foreign collections. The main catalogue for 1966-89 had already been converted, and conversion of the Norwegian union catalogue for foreign books reached the letter H by Summer 96. Since Jul 96 the union catalogue conversion has taken place at the universities' registration centre in Rana, so that Oslo can concentrate on older collections and 'difficult' language works

    Abstract
Describes Oslo University's Informatics Library's and Institute's project on making Institute publications electronically accessible, using the PostScript or HTML formats and the WWW. Examines the fields relevant to cataloguing of the electronic documents. Some documents are available both in physical and electronic form and links are entered to Internet resources which relate to the physical document catalogued. Hopes that others will catalogue electronic documents for their parent institutions and widen the bibliographic description by adding external Internet resources
