    Abstract
    Developments in techology and cost reductions in automated information systems have resulted in an unprecedented growth in demand, especially for Internet and CD-.ROM services. However, the involvement of commercial organisations in Internet presents a danger to the free flow of information. A number of innovations have been introduced to assist users, including WAIS, WWW and gopher systems.
