- Abstract
- Am 27. November 2007 veranstalteten die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB) und der AKEP des Verlegerausschusses des Börsenvereins des Deutschen Buchhandels eine Informationsveranstaltung und einen sich daran anschließenden Expertenworkshop zum Thema Netzpublikationen. Zunächst stand die Vermittlung von Fakten, u. a. zu Ablieferungsverfahren, rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen und zur Pflichtablieferungsverordnung im Vordergrund. Im weiteren Verlauf des Tages wurde mit Fachleuten der Verlage, insbesondere aus dem Bereich Elektronisches Publizieren, über die Praxis innnerhalb der Verlage und die Auswirkungen der digitalen Pflichtexemplare diskutiert. Zu Veranstaltungsbeginn wurde bereits durch Matthias Ulmer (Ulmer Verlag, Verlegerausschuss im Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels) deutlich, dass sich die Verlage Klarheit hinsichtlich des Ablieferungsverfahrens der elektronischen Pflichtexemplare wünschen, um diese in ihre Pläne zu E-Books im Jahr 2008 einbeziehen zu können. Das Ziel des Workshops bestand im Wesentlichen darin, einen Konsens bezüglich der gemeinsam getragenen Absprachen zu erzielen, die später einem erweiterten Kreis zugänglich gemacht werden sollen. Dies ist ein anspruchsvolles Ziel!

- Abstract
- Archives are an extremely valuable part of our cultural heritage since they represent the trace of the activities of a physical or juridical person in the course of their business. Despite their importance, the models and technologies that have been developed over the past two decades in the Digital Library (DL) field have not been specifically tailored to archives. This is especially true when it comes to formal and foundational frameworks, as the Streams, Structures, Spaces, Scenarios, Societies (5S) model is. Therefore, we propose an innovative formal model, called NEsted SeTs for Object hieRarchies (NESTOR), for archives, explicitly built around the concepts of context and hierarchy which play a central role in the archival realm. NESTOR is composed of two set-based data models: the Nested Sets Model (NS-M) and the Inverse Nested Sets Model (INS-M) that express the hierarchical relationships between objects through the inclusion property between sets. We formally study the properties of these models and prove their equivalence with the notion of hierarchy entailed by archives. We then use NESTOR to extend the 5S model in order to take into account the specific features of archives and to tailor the notion of digital library accordingly. This offers the possibility of opening up the full wealth of DL methods and technologies to archives. We demonstrate the impact of NESTOR on this problem through three example use cases.

Für die Universitäten in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland stand jedoch, wie die Aktivitäten der Humboldt-Universität in Berlin seit 1997 zeigen, die Veröffentlichung von Dissertationen im Vordergrund, die von der Universitätsbibliothek und dem Rechenzentrum gemeinsam betrieben wird.
Inhaltsbeschreibung Die verschiedenen Initiativen zum Open Access führen zu zwei Systemen, dem so genannten »grünen Weg«, der bereits in gedruckter Form veröffentlichte Publikationen ins Internet stellt, und dem »goldenen Weg«, bei dem die Volltextspeicherung die einzige oder jedenfalls die vorrangige Form darstellt. Die Internationalisierung des Open Access erfolgte auf drei Konferenzen, die 2001 in Budapest, 2003 in Bethesda und im gleichen Jahr in Berlin stattfanden. Diese Volltextspeicherung war ursprünglich auf die naturwissenschaftlich-technischen Disziplinen konzentriert. Doch treten in zunehmendem Maße auch die Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften dem Prinzip bei. Dabei entstehen natürlich sehr differenzierende Aspekte, zum Beispiel für die Bibliotheken - etwa der Erwerb gedruckter Zeitschriften, Langzeitarchivierung von Interneteintragungen, für den Buchhandel wie für die Autoren - etwa das Urheberrecht, aber auch dort das ökonomische Interesse, wie der Plan des Börsenvereins des Deutschen Buchhandels zu einer eigenen Volltextspeicherung zeigt, dem die Deutsche UNESCO-Kommission eine Ergänzung zum vorliegenden Text nachsandte. Open Access hat mittlerweile ein so weites Interesse gefunden, dass das Auswärtige Amt zusammen mit der Deutschen UNESCO-Kommission 2006 zu einer Konferenz einlud, über deren Ergebnisse die Deutsche UNESCO-Kommission dieses Handbuch veröffentlicht hat, das neben einer definitorischen und einer historischen Einleitung (Norbert Lossau S.18-22 und Peter Schirmbacher S. 22-25) in vier weiteren Kapiteln die Möglichkeiten und Probleme darstellt. Im zweiten Kapitel werden drei verschiedene Modelle vorgestellt: Open-Access-Repositories am Berliner Beispiel des edoc-Servers (Susanne Dobratz S. 28-32), Open-Access-Journale am Beispiel des New Journal of Physics (Eberhard Bodenschatz S.33-36) und ein Verlagsmodell (Springer Open Choice) von Jan Velterop (S. 37-40). Das dritte Kapitel ist den Formen der Realisierung gewidmet, z. B. der Finanzierung (Stefan Gradmann S.42-45), des Urheberrechts (Karl-Nikolaus Peifer S.46-59), der Qualitätssicherung (Eberhard Bodenschatz und Ulrich Pöschl S.50-55), der Langzeitarchivierung (Ute Schwens und Reinhard Altenhöner S. 50-58), der Struktur der Wissenschaftskommunikation (Hans Pfeiffenberger S.59-62), der Datenverarbeitung (Wolfram Horst-mann S. 65) sowie der Akzeptanz (Johannes Fournier S. 66-70).
