- Abstract
- Hitherto, the ISBD for nonbook materials and computer files have provided standards for cataloguing electronic media. However, new technology, particular digitisation with its facility to create multimedia resources, has highlighted the need for new bibliographic standards. In the Netherlands the Royal Library, Pica and SURFnet, in 1993, implemented a project to create standards for networked information resources. The results will provide useful guidelines unitl the publication of an ISBD for electronic resources
