Abstract

Seit Jahren wird von den Wissenschaftsverlagen nach einem System zur eindeutigen Identifizierung und Lokalisierunbg von relevanten Objekten im Internet gesucht. Ein solches System sollte zitierbare Inhalte authentifizieren können und damit dem Nutzer die Sicherheit geben, daß das, was er abgerufen hat, auch das ist, was ihm geliefert wird. Gleichzeitig muß der Urheber der Information sicher sein können, daß seine Rechte auf den Inhalt respektiert und geschützt werden

Abstract

Electronic publishing seems to be the future for efficient and fast information dissemination. Describes a variety of new projects, products and services. In addition, concentrates on the development of information systems: relational, object-oriented and hybrid databases, that will have a major impact on the way we handle internal and external information in our organisations. Springer-Verlag carried out an extensive international survey on the future use of information, external such as information from publishers, as well as internal information such as technical documents. New systems like Right-Pages and integrated information and document management systems like DocMan will be the next generation for information handling, dissemination and retrieval

Abstract

Almost everybody seems to be talking about document delivery and digital libraries. Library networks are starting joint ventures with journal subscription agencies and offering electronic tables of contents. Integrated systems for image management and document management are being implemented. Academic networks and Internet are being used at an exponential rate. At the same time budgets for the acquisition of books and journals are shrinking and alternatives for the delivery of information are being discussed. Are there alternatives and what will be their impact?
