    Abstract
    Describes a hypertext-based system that integrates the bibliographic information of the library catalogue with user-defined knowledge structures, imports information at the user's command, and offers a dynamic personal information tool for active users. Describes the structure and the content of the data base, and shows how the system can be accommodated to different user groups or individual users.

    Abstract
    Presents a prototype for a hypertext-based library catalogue using the experience of the Department of Information Science at the University of Graz and the Department of Library and Information Sience at the Eötvös-Lorand University, Budapest. Following an historical overview of the development of the hypertext concept and the benefits resulting from a hypercatalogue, the hypertext structure of the catalogue and its functionality are described. Prospects for the future are also outlined

    Abstract
    We have recently completed a survey of the operational use of hypertext-based information systems in academic, public and special libraries in the UK. A literatur search, questionnaire and both telephone and face-to-face interviews demonstrate that the principle application of hypertext systems is for the implementation of public-access point-of-information systems, which provide guidance to the users of local information resources. In this paper, we describe the principle issuse relating to the design and usage of these systems that were raised in the interviews and that we experienced when using the systems for ourselves. We then present a set of technical recommendations with the intention of helping the developers of future systems, with special attention being given to the need to develop effective methods for system evaluation

    Presents a state of the art review of the application oh hypertext searching techniques to online catalogues. The technique improves traditional online catalogues: when consulting the catalogue in a non linear way; and when browsing bibliographic information. New research could improve access to larger databases including thesauri and classification schemes

    Abstract
    Conceptual considerations on possible synergies between hypertext and indexing languages' research. The existence of a common conceptual and theoretical background encourages and facilitates cooperation. It is concluded that the conjunction of the almost biological flexibility of the hypertext and the logical and conceptual consistency of indexing languages is a promise of better and more effective information management systems in the future

    Abstract
    Librarians find themselves today in a lively period of the evolution of user interfaces to online information. Most of the newer interfaces incorporate graphics, colour and mouse-supported searching to make intiation for the novics user easier and all searching more productive. Describes the University of Delaware's development of DELCAT MacPAC, a HyperCard-based front-end to the university's OPAC, adapted from Cornell University's MacPAC. The focus is on Delaware's customisation of MacPAC for its environment, including the support of remote users, and the testing, use, and distribution of the product
