    Abstract
We describe Rosetta, an indexing and retrieval system for collections of research papers. Rosetta indexes papers in a collection based on the way they have been described when referenced by other papers in the collection. With this technique, indices for papers describe information provided in the same way a query describes information needed. Using Rosetta, simple natural language queries retrieve high-precision results in which descriptions based on citations clearly summarize retrieved papers; allowing users to quickly determine which papers most closely meet their information needs

    Abstract
Part of a larger study which aims to: empirically investigate book-index usage, behaviours, and the extent to which specific print index features affect a user's search for information; and to examine these features in an electronic environment and to determine the optimum specifications for indexes in electronic texts by gathering evidence from a controlled user study. Provides an overview of the research project, focusing on a subset of the results from the study of hard-copy book indexes. Describes observable behaviours of a sample of users when consulting different variations of a hard copy book index. Suggests a preliminary model at 3 levels of abstraction repressing users' behaviours when using a book index

    Abstract
Summarises the final report of the Society of Indexers / Liverpool John Moores University investigation of indexes to children's information books, focusing on indexes for children at National Curriculum Key Stage 2 (age 7-11). Questionnaires were received from 98 indexers, librarians, parents and teachers and 16 publishers. Work was also done with 154 children in 4 schools. Highlights children's and publisher's views and lists selected recommendations for the inclusion and presentation of indexes in children's information books
