    Abstract
    Die Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Münster (ULB Münster) hat jetzt ihre letzten beiden großen konventionellen Kataloge für Literatur bis 1990 im Netz veröffentlicht, den Zentralkatalog der Institute (ZKI) und den Systematischen Katalog (SyK) der ULB. Mit dem ZKI komplettiert die Bibliothek den elektronischen Gesamtnachweis der Literaturbestände in der Universität. Bislang boten der zentrale Online-Katalog (OPAC) und der Online-Katalog der Institute (OKI) bereits 4,2 Mill. Bände für die elektronische Recherche an. Im ZKI kommen nun 1,5 Mill. Bände aus den Instituts- und Seminarbibliotheken hinzu. Der 1990 durch die Online-Schlagwortkatalogisierung nach RSWK abgelöste Systematische Katalog (SyK) erschließt die Bestände der Zentralbibliothek nach Universeller Dezimalklassifikation (UDK). Die digitalisierten Katalogzettel von ZKI (1,05 Mill.) und SyK (1,4 Mill.) sind auf dem Bildschirm als Abbilder (images) der Originale zu sehen, da bei der Digitalisierung die kostengünstige Bildkonvertierung der Katalogkarten im Scan-Verfahren (image scanning) angewandt wurde. Im digitalisierten ZKI werden die bisherigen Recherchemöglichkeiten ins elektronische Medium transportiert und verbessert. Die Suche ist nicht nur jederzeit und allerorts möglich, sie wird auch insgesamt transparenter, übersichtlicher und deutlich schneller. Bereits die Einbindung ins Katalogmenü der ULB mit seinen Kurzinformationen verschafft Orientierung über die Reichweite und den Stellenwert einer ZKI-Recherche im Kontext der alphabetischen Titelnachweise an der Universität.

    "Im Rahmen des Projekts sollen die circa 13.000 konventionellen Titelaufnahmen der vor 1990 erworbenen Bestände der Thomas-Mann-Sammlung, die zurzeit nur als Zettelkatalog vorliegen, in den Online-Katalog der Thomas-Mann-Sammlung überführt werden. In der zweijährigen Projektlaufzeit werden ferner die Inhaltsverzeichnisse der monografischen Sekundärliteratur zu Thomas Mann eingescannt und die Katalogisate damit angereichert. Außerdem sollen die Aufsätze zum Thema »Thomas Mann«, die im Rahmen der DFG-Nationallizenzen verfügbar sind, mit den Katalogaufnahmen verlinkt werden, sodass die Nutzer von der Titelanzeige den direkten Zugriff auf die Volltexte erhalten. Des Weiteren soll ein Dokumentliefersystem in die Datenbank integriert werden, damit Zeitschriftenaufsätze, Zeitungsartikel oder einzelne Kapitel aus Monografien direkt aus dem System heraus elektronisch bestellt und geliefert werden können. Der im Internet frei zugängliche Online-Katalog der Thomas-Mann-Sammlung umfasst derzeit 11000 Titelnachweise. Dabei handelt es sich um seit 1990 erworbene Monografien, Aufsätze aus Fachzeitschriften und aus Sammelbänden sowie Zeitungsartikel. Dazu gehören auch Übersetzungen der Werke Thomas Manns in mehr als 40 Sprachen und audiovisuelle Medien."

    Abstract
    The Jack Brause Library at New York University (NYU) is a special library supporting the curriculum of NYU's Real Estate Institute. The Jack Brause Library (JBL) Real estate Periodical Index was established in 1990 and draws on the library's collection of over 140 real estate periodicals. Describes the conversion of the JBL Index from a 3x5 card index to an online resource. The database was originally created using Rbase for DOS but this quickly became obsolete and in 1993 was replaced with InMagic. In 1997 the JBL Index was made available on NYU's telnet catalogue, BobCat, and the Internet database catalogue, BobCatPlus. The transition of InMagic data to USMARC formatted records involved a 3-step process: data normalization; adding value; and data recording. The Index has been operational through telnet since May 1997 and installing it onto the Web became functional in Oct 1997

    Die letzten Teile des Zettel-Zentralkatalogs des Hochschulbibliothekszentrums des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen in Köln (HBZ) sind jetzt für die Öffentlichkeit im Internet zugänglich: rund 890.000 Katalogzettel mit Bestandsnachweisen aus rund 130 Bibliotheken in Nordrhein-Westfalen und dem nördlichen Rheinland-Pfalz wurden digitalisiert und stehen nun als sog. Images (Abbilder der - teilweise handgeschriebenen - Katalogkarten) bereit unter der URL: http://imagekataloge.hbz-nrw.de/katalog-start.html Enthalten sind die Segmente - Monographien 1986-1990 - Zeitschriften / Serien / Kongresse mit Erscheinungsbeginn vor 1976 - Supplement zum Katalog Zeitschriften / Serien / Kongresse. Zum Teil sind die Nachweise auch schon im elektronischen HBZ-Verbundkatalog (WWW-OPAC) enthalten. Es sollte unbedingt immer zuerst dort recherchiert werden, denn dort sind die Nachweise tagesaktuell, die Recherche ist für Profis differenzierter und für Laien einfacher, und die Bücher können auch gleich per Mausklick bestellt werden. Wenn man im WWW-OPAC aber nicht fündig geworden ist, lohnt sich eine ergänzende Suche in den Imagekatalogen. Den Zugang zu diesen Beständen konnte man sich bislang nur dadurch erschließen, dass man konventionelle "rote Leihscheine" zum HBZ schickte, wo dann von Fachkräften in den Zettelkatalogen recherchiert und der Leihschein an die besitzende Bibliothek weitergesandt wurde. Ab sofort können alle Interessenten und kann jede Fernleihstelle selbst prüfen, ob es für einen bisher vergeblich gesuchten Titel doch noch einen Nachweis in der Region gibt, und die Bestellung auf elektronischem Wege direkt an die betreffende Bibliothek schicken. Damit wird die Fernleihe wieder ein wenig schneller und komfortabler.

Es sollte unbedingt immer zuerst dort recherchiert werden, denn dort sind die Nachweise tagesaktuell, die Recherche ist für Profis differenzierter und für Laien einfacher, und die Bücher können auch gleich per Mausklick bestellt werden. Wenn man im WWW-OPAC aber nicht fündig geworden ist, lohnt sich eine ergänzende Suche in den Imagekatalogen. Den Zugang zu diesen Beständen konnte man sich bislang nur dadurch erschließen, dass man konventionelle "rote Leihscheine" zum HBZ schickte, wo dann von Fachkräften in den Zettelkatalogen recherchiert und der Leihschein an die besitzende Bibliothek weitergesandt wurde. Ab sofort können alle Interessenten und kann jede Fernleihstelle selbst prüfen, ob es für einen bisher vergeblich gesuchten Titel doch noch einen Nachweis in der Region gibt, und die Bestellung auf elektronischem Wege direkt an die betreffende Bibliothek schicken. Damit wird die Fernleihe wieder ein wenig schneller und komfortabler.
