- "Mr. Rokicki, Sie haben die "Gotteszahl" gefunden, die kleinstmögliche Zahl von Zügen, die den Zauberwürfel aus jeder beliebigen Position in den Urzustand versetzt. "Gotteszahl" klingt nach etwas Bedeutenderem für die Menschheit. Für mich ist sie wichtig, für die meisten Menschen wohl höchstens interessant. Ich bin sehr erleichtert. Es gab noch ein anderes Team, das daran gearbeitet hat. Enttäuscht bin ich aber, dass das Ergebnis nicht interessanter ist als 20. 21 zum Beispiel. Was macht die 21 interessanter? Wir kennen schon lange Würfel-Stellungen, die sich mit 20 Zügen lösen lassen. Es wäre spannend gewesen, wenn es auch einige gegeben hätte, für die man 21 braucht. Wie fanden Sie die Gotteszahl? Der Durchbruch kam 2005 an Thanksgiving. Da fuhr ich mit meiner Familie durch Virginia, wir besichtigten Bürgerkriegs-Denkmäler. Wir waren lange unterwegs, ich hatte viel Zeit zum Nachdenkenund notierte mir die Ergebnisse. Welche Idee hatten Sie damals? Wenn man ein Puzzle löst, geht man die meiste Zeit falsche Wege. Man probiert etwas aus, merkt, dass das falsch war - und geht wieder zurück. In Virginia fiel mir auf, dass beim Zauberwürfel jeder falsche Weg für eine Lösung, der richtige für eine andere ist. Ich erfand eine Möglichkeit, wie sich ein Computerprogramm einen falschen Weg als richtigen für eine andere Lösung merken konnte. Dann haben wir die 43 Trillionen Würfelpositionen unterteilt in 2 Milliarden Untergruppen.

- Meine Karriere als Crowdworker hat mir einen maximalen Stundenlohn von vier Euro und einen dystopischen Einblick in die digitale Arbeiterschaft von morgen eingebracht. Digitalisierung und Hyperkapitalismus globalisieren nicht nur unseren Freundeskreis, sondern bescheren uns auch neuartige Formen der Lohnarbeit. In den letzten Jahren entwickelte sich im Netz ein unterbezahltes Klickproletariat, in dem sich der Arbeiter selbstverantwortlich gegen eine große unbekannte Konkurrenz von Mikro-Jobbern abschuftet. November 2005: Amazon stellt eine neue Website ins Netz. Sie heißt Mechanical Turk und soll ein ganz bestimmtes Problem lösen: Seit Kurzem verkauft der Onlinebuchhändler nämlich auch CDs. Da Amazon 2005 schon ein Gigant im Onlinehandel ist, geht es dabei nicht nur um ein paar CDs, sondern um Hunderttausende-und diese Angebote müssen ganz schnell ihren Weg auf die Webseite finden. Die Herausforderung dabei: Jemand muss überprüfen, ob die Cover jugendfrei sind, ob alle Liedtitel richtig angezeigt werden, ob die Sänger- und Komponistennamen stimmen.

- Abstract
- Der Beitrag zeichnet ein aktuelles Bild der inhaltlichen Erschließung im Österreichischen Verbundkatalog, insbesondere in quantitativer Hinsicht. Um den Entwicklungsverlauf zu illustrieren, werden dazu Daten von 2005 bis 2013 präsentiert. Im Detail geht es um die verbale Sacherschließung durch RSWKbasierte Schlagwortfolgen und englischsprachige Subject Headings, sowie die klassifikatorische Erschließung mittels Basisklassifikation, Dewey Dezimalklassifikation und Regensburger Verbundklassifikation. Im Zusammenhang mit der Basisklassifikation wird auch von Anreicherungsprojekten mittels Konkordanzen und Datenübernahmen berichtet. Ausserdem werden Neuerungen bei der Suche und Anzeige klassifikatorischer Sacherschließungselemente in den Rechercheinstrumenten des Verbundes dargestellt.
