    Abstract
    In January 2010, the German National Library discontinued the print version of the national bibliography and replaced it with an online journal. This was the first step in a longer process of redefining the National Library's bibliographic services, leaving the field of traditional media - e. g. paper or CD-ROM databases - and focusing on publishing its data over the WWW. A new business model was set up - all web resources are now published in an extra bibliography series and the bibliographic data are freely available. Step by step the prices of the other bibliographic data will be also reduced. In the second stage of the project, the focus is on value-added services based on the National Library's catalogue. The main purpose is to introduce alerting services based on the user's search criteria offering different access methods such as RSS feeds, integration with e. g. Zotero, or export of the bibliographic data as a CSV or PDF file. Current standards of cataloguing remain a guide line to offer high-value end-user retrieval but they will be supplemented by automated indexing procedures to find & browse the growing number of documents. A transparent cataloguing policy and wellarranged selection menus are aimed.

    "Die Anzahl der Abonnenten für die gedruckten Verzeichnisse der Deutschen Nationalbibliografie ist in den letzten Jahren so stark zurückgegangen, dass eine kostendeckende Herstellung nicht mehr möglich ist. Aus diesem Grund muss die Deutsche Nationalbibliografie in gedruckter Form nach fast hundertjährigem Erscheinen eingestellt werden. Das Gleiche gilt - wenn auch nach einer kürzeren Zeitspanne - für die CD-ROM-Ausgabe. Die Abonnements einzelner Reihen der Deutschen Nationalbibliografie gedruckt oder auf CD-ROM enden daher wie folgt: Wöchentliches Verzeichnis (umfasst die Reihen A, B und C) und Neuerscheinungsdienst: zum 31. Dezember 2009 mit Heft Nr. 51/52 Hochschulschriftenverzeichnis: nach Erscheinen des Jahresregisters 2009 (ca. Februar 2010) Halbjahresverzeichnis: nach Erscheinen des 2. Halbjahres 2009 (ca. April/Mai 2010) Das Dreijahresverzeichnis 2004 bis 2006 liegt bereits abgeschlossen vor, einen Berichtszeitraum 2007 bis 2009 wird es aus ökonomischen Gründen nicht mehr geben. CD-ROM Ausgabe: zum 31. Dezember 2009 mit der Ausgabe Dezember 2009
    Stattdessen werden ab dem Jahr 2010 neben der allgemein zugänglichen Datenbank https://portal.d-nb.de, mit der die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek die Erstverzeichnung und damit ihren gesetzlichen Auftrag erfüllt, neue - an die verschiedenen Kundenwünsche angepasste - elektronische Angebote Druckverzeichnisse und CD-ROM ablösen. In Anlehnung an die bisherigen gedruckten Ausgaben wird die Deutsche Nationalbibliothek die Nationalbibliografie als Online-Zeitschrift im PDF-Format kostenfrei über ihre Datenbank anbieten. Zusätzlich können die PDF-Dateien auf Wunsch auch kostenpflichtig auf dem WWW- bzw. FTP-Server der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek zum Abholen bereitgestellt werden. Die Gliederung in die Reihen A, B, C, H, M und T und den Neuerscheinungsdienst bleibt dabei unverändert, ebenso wird der Erscheinungsrhythmus beibehalten. Nutzungsmöglichkeiten, die sich darüber hinaus aus der gedruckten Nationalbibliografie ergaben, werden digital über das DNB-Portal angeboten, z.B. - Filter auf die einzelnen Reihen der Deutschen Nationalbibliografie und die Suche nach einzelnen Bibliografieheften, - Auswahl bestimmter Medienarten wie Online-Publikationen oder Dissertationen - Speicherung von Suchprofilen, Export von Trefferlisten als HTML-Datei. In einer weiteren Stufe sind auch RSS-Feeds und Alerting-Dienste geplant.
