    Abstract
    An important development in the processing and formatting of text is the creation and use of markup languages. An area receiving attention has been descriptive markup languages, which allow description of a text element or document in a way which is independent of its final output and form. Greater attentio should be given to the creation of survey quwstionnaires, and any comprehensive markup langugae standard should include markups for supporting this application. Examines this need and explains why a markup language would support the survey application and how it would extend the utility of the markup approach. Proposes a set of markups for survey creation which would serve as extensions to existing markup standards. The advantages and benefits of markup command languages as compared to traditional direct manipulation WYSIWYG approaches are also discussed

    Abstract
    In this paper, we explore an approach to make better use of semi-structured documents in information retrieval in the domain of biology. Using machine learning techniques, we make those inherent structures explicit by XML markups. This marking up has great potentials in improving task performance in specimen identification and the usability of online flora and fauna.

    "OCLC unternimmt den ersten Schritt zur Anreicherung von WorldCat mit Linked Data und ergänzt jeden Eintrag in WorldCat.org mit Markups von Schema.org. Damit stellt WorldCat.org nun die größte Sammlung verlinkter bibliografischer Daten im Web dar. Mit den Markups von Schema.org zu allen in WorldCat.org auffindbaren Büchern, Zeitschriften und anderen bibliografischen Quellen werden die kompletten öffentlich zugänglichen Daten von WorldCat für Webcrawler wie Google und Bing nutzbar, die diese Metadaten in Suchindizes und anderen Anwendungen verwerten können. Kommerzielle Entwickler, die mit webbasierten Services arbeiten, suchen schon eine Weile nach Möglichkeiten zur Ausschöpfung des Potentials von Linked Data. Die Initiative Schema.org, die 2011 von Google, Bing und Yahoo! gegründet wurde, stellt ein Kernvokabular für Markup zur Verfügung, das Suchmaschinen und anderen Webtrawlern die Verwendung der darunter liegenden Daten erleichtert. OCLC arbeitet mit der Schema.org Community an der Entwicklung und Implementierung einer Erweiterung dieses Vokabulars für WorldCat-Daten. Schema.org und bibliotheksspezifische Erweiterungen schaffen eine wertvolle Brücke zwischen der Bibliothekswelt und dem Netz der Endverbraucher, dem sogenannten consumer web. Schema.org arbeitet mit einer Reihe anderer Branchen zusammen, um ähnliche Erweiterungen für andere spezifische Anwendungsfälle bereitzustellen. Die Möglichkeiten, die Linked Data der internationalen Bibliotheksgemeinschaft bietet, decken sich mit der Kernstrategie von OCLC, Bibliotheken auf dem Weg zu Web-Scale zu unterstützen. Die Anreicherung der WorldCat-Einträge durch Linked Data erhöht deren Nutzwert - vor allem für Suchmaschinen, Entwickler und Webdienste außerhalb der Bibliothekswelt. Das wird es Suchmaschinen erleichtern, nicht-bibliothekarische Organisationen mit Bibliotheksdaten zu verbinden.

    Abstract
    The development of the general theory of subject indexing language and of POPSI for organisation, storage and retrieval of subjects embodies in documents has a striking parallel in the search for and development of 'universal forms' and 'deep structure' in language and linguistic studies. This paper briefly traces the development of POPSI language as a metalanguage for information organisation and for generating information retrieval thesaurus. Also a computer-based system for generating an information retrieval thesaurus from modulated subject headings formulated according to POPSI which are enriched with certain codes for relating the terms in the subject headings is described. It is also mentioned that, if it is possible to form a table of equivalent terms in another language for the terms already used to generate the thesaurus, then it is possible to translate the thesaurus automatically into the other language

    Abstract
    This research revisits the classic Turing test and compares recent large language models such as ChatGPT for their abilities to reproduce human-level comprehension and compelling text generation. Two task challenges- summary and question answering- prompt ChatGPT to produce original content (98-99%) from a single text entry and sequential questions initially posed by Turing in 1950. We score the original and generated content against the OpenAI GPT-2 Output Detector from 2019, and establish multiple cases where the generated content proves original and undetectable (98%). The question of a machine fooling a human judge recedes in this work relative to the question of "how would one prove it?" The original contribution of the work presents a metric and simple grammatical set for understanding the writing mechanics of chatbots in evaluating their readability and statistical clarity, engagement, delivery, overall quality, and plagiarism risks. While Turing's original prose scores at least 14% below the machine-generated output, whether an algorithm displays hints of Turing's true initial thoughts (the "Lovelace 2.0" test) remains unanswerable.
