- Abstract
- The Coalition for Networked Information's (CNI) New Learning Communities Program was developed to support pioneers in education who use networks and networked information to support student centred teaching and learning. The programme focuses on 3 trends: the increased availability of computer networks in higher education, specifically the Internet; the need for students to develop information literacy skills as part of the curriculum; and the increasing importance of collaboration in both teaching and learning and the technological society. The Coalition for Networked Information brings together pioneer teams from higher education institutions and these teams: which can include faculty, librarians, information technologists, students and instructional designers; have developed new courses that use networking technologies and place emphasis on networked information resources. Through a series of workshops and conferences, a videotape and a Web site; CNI supported the pioneer temas and disseminated the lessons learned from their projects to others in the higher education community
