    Abstract
    Describes Web sites provided by professional organizations and other library support services which provide information and support for virtual librarians. These include: the American Library Association (ALA) (http://www.ala.org) site giving details of ALA conferences and events, a FAQ document and links to over 700 Web resources for children and families; the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) site (http://www.lita.org) about LITA programmes and publications; the Internet Trend Watch (http://itwfl.com) for librarians newsletter published by Librarians and Educators Online (LEO); library system vendor Data Research Associates' site (http://www.dra.com/resources/library/librarianslibrary.html) which lists links to resources especially useful to librarians including the LCMARC databases, professional organizations, library-related topics, and special collections and libraries; and the Library Support Staff Resource Center (http://rodent.lib.rochester.edu/ssp) for paraprofessionals and other support staff.     Abstract
    To use the electronic resources of the Internet effectively, reference librarians must learn to use the various search engines to their best advantage. Describes the following Web sites which provide help for librarians in improving their Internet searching skills: the Bergen County Cooperative Library System which has links to some well-known directories and search engines; the Spider's Apprentice, which provides ratings and in-depth analysis of search engines, a FAQ document useful to the beginning searcher, and an online discussion forum; ZDNet's WebSearchUser which has feature articles, reviews and tutorials; and Search Engine Watch which reports new developments in search engines.     Abstract
    Presents an overview of Web-based resources for online user instruction on the Internet. Describes free resources which teach Web browsing such as Netscape's online handbook, Microsoft's tutorial on its Internet Ecplorer Web browser and Global Villages's Internet Tour. Library specific instruction is provided by many libraries who have developed training materials which can be accessed via the Web; these include Augsburg College (http://aug3.augsburg.edu/library/aib), the Chicago Library System (http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/cls) and the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (http://www.bccls.org/www/support.html). The Internet Education Project Web site allows librarians to display and share instructional materials they have developed. Also reviews training courses offered by commercial vendors which would suit the needs of staff who require more extensive training in specific areas of technology or particular software packages. These online resources can be used in conjunction with more traditional workshops or can be self-paced tutorials
