- Abstract
- The Zeitschriftendienst (ZD), a topical periodical analysis service, began publication in 1965 and now covers 200 periodicals. The Deutsche Bibliotheksinstitut has used electronic data processing for publishing since 1974. The editorial board processes and coordinates all incoming periodicals analysis. A committee advises on cataloguing problems, selects new entries and old material for discarding. In 1990 it was decided to use the Schlagwortnormdatei, a standardised subject heading system used in many libraries...The service is available in printed form on microfiche and disc. It may be possible to store ZD in in-house systems.

- Abstract
- Die deutschen nationalbibliographische Datenbank Biblio-Data wird in Teil A mit ihren Grundlagen vorgestellt. Biblio-Data basiert auf dem Information-Retrieval-System STAIRS von IBM, das durch Zusatzprogramme der ZMD verbessert wurde. Das Hauptgewicht dieses Beitrags liegt auf der Erörterung des Biblio-Data-Konzepts, nach dem die Daten der Deutschen Bibliographie retrievalgerecht aufbereitet und eingegeben werden. Auf Eigenarten, Probleme und Mängel, die daraus entstehen, dass Biblio-Data auf nationalbibliographischen Daten aufbaut, wird ausführlich eingegangen. Zwei weitere Beiträge zeigen an einigen Beispielen die vielfältigen Suchmöglichkeiten mit Biblio-Data, um zu verdeutlichen, dass damit nicht nur viel schenellere, sondern auch bessere Recherchen ausgeführt werden können. Teil B weist nach, dass Biblio-Data weder die Innhaltsanalyse noch die Zuordnung von schlagwörtern automatisieren kann. Im derzeitigen Einsatzstadium fällt Biblio-Data die Aufgabe zu, die weiterhin knventionall-intellektuell auszuführende Sacherschließung durch retrospektive Recherchen, insbesonderr durch den wesentlich erleichterten Zugriff auf frühere Indexierungsergebnisse, zu unterstützen. Teil C schildert die praktische Arbeit mit Biblio-Data bei bibliographischen Ermittlungen und Literaturzusammenstellunen und kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass effektive und bibliographische Arbeit aus der sinnvollen Kombination von Datenbank-Retrieval und konventioneller Suche bestehet.

- Abstract
- The effectivity of bibliographic data depends upon clearly defined standards, prompt publication and a range of possible users. The Deutsche Bibiothek has converted data into UNIMARC for national exchange purposes. The keyword standard file of over 260.000 heading and reference forms is available on magnetic tape and microfiche. A central data file on corporate bodies, produced by the Deutsche Bibliotheksinstitut is also available. From 1989 the amount of information in topical index entries may be reduced. Further changes planned include more precise definition of collection guidelines, new operational forms for floppy disc and CD-ROM and selective bibliographic services for particular publication forms and types of library.

- Abstract
- Lecture given at the meeting of the committee on interloans and union catalogues at the 20th Austrian Librarian's Conference. The contents of the Österreichischen Zeitschriftendatenbank (ÖZDB) will be transferred into the data base of the Austrian Libraries' Cooperative, which uses the BIBOS system. Framework conditions of procedures have been established. The 3 data files of ÖZDB are linked logically and are redundance free; they contained over 660.000 entries in 1986. In 1988 there were 980 participants in the data base, mainly Austrian academic libraries. On-line services are included. Interim measures have been recommended for the transition period.

- Abstract
- Das zunehmende Bewusstsein für "Open Data" in der Bibliothekswelt eröffnet wichtige Fragen bezüglich des Umgangs mit freien Daten. Der vorliegende Text diskutiert die konzeptionellen Grundlinien einer technischen Open-Data-Infrastruktur und arbeitet die vielschichtigen Anforderungen an eine solche Infrastruktur heraus. Die behandelten Gesichtspunkte reichen von der Datenpublikation über ihre Beschreibung bis hin zur Änderungsverwaltung. Für einige Aspekte werden viel versprechende Anknüpfungspunkte identifiziert, z. B. in Gestalt von Versionsverwaltungstools aus der OpenSource-Community oder in Form von laufenden Projekten der Open Knowledge Foundation oder des W3C.

- Large Swiss academic libraries stock 3 million titles documented in computerized catalogues. This data will be amalgamated with the Verbundkatalog Schweiz (VKS) to produce a national union catalogue. Unified cataloguing rules, clear definitions for data storage, operational guidelines and active participation of the original VKS database are needed. The government will help libraries financially according to their degree of participation in the project
