    Abstract
    Considers the opportunities of growing online information resources for information intensive business such as travel and tourism, and the challenges that they pose for traditional suppliers such as National Tourist Offices. Examines the current usage of information technology by the travel and tourism industry, and issues arising for publishers and National Toursm Organisations, as well as examples of current international activity. Customer requirements for information as well as constraints on the commercial development of tourism information services are highlighted. Describes and evaluates recent initiatives using online services in this area in the context of effective customer service and commercial viability
