    Abstract
The frequency of non-informative titles of journal articles was assessed for two fields: library and information science and sociology. The percentage of non informative titles was 21% in the formaer and 15% in the latter. In both fields, the non-informative titles, were concentratein only a few journals. The non-informative titles in library science were derived mainly from non-research journals. IN sociology the reasons for non-informative titles may be more complex; some of these journals are highly cited. For the improvement of retrievaleffiency the adoption of a policy encouraging informative titles (as in journals of chemistry) is recommended.

    Abstract
As part of a largerstudy concerning the scatter of library and information science (LIS) documents in bibliographic databases, this paper focuses on the publishing sources of a sample of 822 highly relevant documents. 67% were journal articles with the largest subject categories outside of LIS being medicine / health sciences, business, education, and computer science. Other journal titles ranged from popular and trade magazines to scholarly journals spanning the disciplinary map. The largest number of nonjournal items were conference reports, government reports, bibliographic resource guides, monographs, and nongovernment agency reports. These were scattered mostly between technological and medical databases. The results show that LIS is an interdisciplinary field, borrowing and supplying information to and from other disciplines. Articles written about the application of LIS concepts to other fields are often published in the journals of those other fields, not in LIS journals

    Abstract
Project QUARTET has been experomenting for some time with the idea of a fully automatic documet delivery, able to provide users with source material on request for an electronic store. The ADONIS data base of 219 biomedical journals on CD-ROM formed the primary material for the experiments. The results have shown that such systems are technically feasible and may have considerable benefit in providing research workers with a rapid information delivery service that avoids some of the inherent costs of more traditional methodes.

    Abstract
Outlines the ADONIS system: an experiment in which the contents of over 200 biomedical journals are scanned and stored on CD-ROM describes how the DOCMATCH project uses the Universal Standard Bibliographic Code to link bibliographic data bases to the ADONIS workstation, thus automating the ink from reference to full text data base. The DOCMATCH workstation at document supply centres divides orders into ADONIS material and non-ADONIS material so that the ADONIS workstation can then process the material automatically.
