    Abstract
The employees of an organization often use a personal hierarchical classification scheme to organize digital documents that are stored on their own workstations. As this may make it hard for other employees to retrieve these documents, there is a risk that the organization will lose track of needed documentation. Furthermore, the inherent boundaries of such a hierarchical structure require making arbitrary decisions about which specific criteria the classification will b.e based on (for instance, the administrative activity or the document type, although a document can have several attributes and require classification in several classes).A faceted classification model to support corporate information organization is proposed. Partially based on Ranganathan's facets theory, this model aims not only to standardize the organization of digital documents, but also to simplify the management of a document throughout its life cycle for both individuals and organizations, while ensuring compliance to regulatory and policy requirements.

    Abstract
Describes 3 records management approaches to electronic records and assesses the archival interests involved in each. Suggests utilizing the Information Management methodology to devise an organization wide Information Management Plan, incorporating records management and archival requirements, to facilitate the identification of records of value to the organization to be managed as any other corporate asset

    Abstract
Identifies some of the fundamental issues for the future records management, and assesses their relevance for the future. Considers traditional records management and suggests a new record keeping approach which impacts directly upon the organization by ensuring records are properly created according to the organization's needs. Stresses the importance of making better use of new technologies. Important issues are: the myth of the information manager, implementation of records management standards, replacing the life cycle approach with one of a records continuum, new relationships between the archival and records management community, and development of competency based standards

This paper describes part of a current research investigating the feasibility of creating a faceted and multi-viewed knowledge organization system (KOS) for administrative document organization in online environments. Preliminary findings support the faceted and multi-viewed classification as a promising altemative to the hierarchical paradigm for personal administrative electronic documents organization. Further analysis about identification of semantic relations between facets to reduce number of facet descriptors is required. Technical improvements are also needed to enhance the faceted navigation interface used within the pilot test.

    Abstract
Different cultural, administrative and linguistic areas make knowledge organization diverse in records and archives management. The paper suggests that there are four salient differences: what knowledge organization systems (KOS) there are to achieve the goals of records and archives management, what is the moment when they are applied to organize information, what is the granularity of actions that the KOS supports and how the KOS is combined with organizational work and records processes.

    Abstract
This communication describes part of a current research carried out at the Université de Technologie de Troyes and funded by a postdoctoral grant from the Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la société et la culture. Under the title "Design and evaluation of a faceted classification for uniform and personal organization of administrative electronic documents", our research investigates the feasibility of creating a faceted and multi-points-of-view classification scheme for administrative document organization and retrieval in online environments.

    Abstract
Government agencies are increasingly turning to document imaging to manage their large volumes of information that must be retained for long periods of time. It is being applied in the area of: land records, law enforcement, and licenses and vital records. Government will turn to developing document management applications that will enable the organization of files of any data types into a logical document and provide organization into electronic folder hierarchies or new document packages

    Abstract
Document Management and Workflow are technologies designed to support either the productivity of an organizational process or, alternatively, the productivity of the people who comprise an organization.. Describes the motivation and anticipated benefits that could encourage an organization to seek a technology solution to its existing paperlogged processes

    Abstract
Large multinational corporations produce and acquire vast volumes of information in the course of their business. Information management strategies are being developed in many large organizations to manage this assett effectively, enabling the organization to achieve crucial business abjectives in addition to controlling costs. Electronic systems are being used to store the increasing volumes of information. Raises issues about the management of this information such as how the culture, organization and pace of change within the company affect the management of information, particularly this availability for use by third parties in the longer term
