    Abstract
The U.S. federal government has been a major publisher on the Internet. Its many agencies have used the Internet, and the Web most recently, to provide access to a great quantity of their information output. Several agencies such as the Library of Congress and the Government Printing Office have taken a leading role in both providing information and offering finding aids, while other endeavors such as FirstGov and subject gateways offer other avenues of access. A brief look back at the history of the government on the Web and the continuing concerns and challenges show how the government is not only a major content provider on the Internet but also a source for the organization of the content.

    Abstract
This new directory provides descriptive information on a wide range of electronic bulletin boards, private companies, and regional networks that offer dial-in access to the Internet. The book is aimed at those with no current access but with a minimum of computer literacy, as well as those who are familiar with the Internet and who are looking for home access. The directory covers Internet providers worldwide

    Abstract
WWW search engines are not comprehensive in their searches. They do not search: Adobe PDF file or other formatted files, registration files, and data sets. Basic search strategies can give access to some of the hidden content. 2 databases are also available to provide access to the hidden information. Excite's News Tracker searches a database of selected online publications. ATI databases from PLS, Inc. presents access to a variety of Internet accessible databases that may require membership or the payment of a registration fee
