    Abstract
Describes an approach to indexing which seeks to eliminate the shortcoming of the representation of information in existing bibliographic catalogues: Subject Access Project (SAP) indexing which has been used successfully at Lund University and elsewhere. Existing catalogue records have been enriched with terms selected from lists of contents and indexes in books thus facilitating access to specific parts of documents and smaller semantic entites such as chapter titles, subject titles and data in graphic or tabulated form available in a wide range of publications

    Abstract
Criticizes the current processes of information management, with the objective of arriving at a new concept of the electronic document. Discusses problems of human language in the context of information management. Examines the problem of information from the point of view of the structure of knowledge, by analysing dysfunction in current processes of information management. Proposes a model of knowledge nearer to the human mind called 'document hypertext'. A combined interface of information management id also applicable in studies of hardware, graphic interfaces and metaphors of visualization of information. The current excessive fragmentation and artificial treatment of information structures could be avoided by simplifying of processes of information management and creating integral interfaces that bring information systems closer to the user

    Abstract
A discussion of the importance of clear cataloguing policies and routines as the basis of quality control, in relation to the methods used in the College of Mexico Library. The fundamental principle is to prevent errors occuring rather than to correct them subsequently. Indices of quality and effiency in relation to errors which do and do not affect retrieval, established through monthly review of samples of the work of each cataloguer, are used to monitor activities and ensure high standards. This process, essentially collaborative, promotes an overall culture of quality

    Abstract
A systematic literature review is carried out, detailing the research topics and the methods and techniques used in information science in studies published between 2000 and 2019. The results obtained allow us to affirm that there is no consensus on the core topics of information science, as these evolve and change dynamically in relation to other disciplines, and with the dominant social and cultural contexts. With regard to the research methods and techniques, it can be stated that they have mostly been adopted from social sciences, with the addition of numerical methods, especially in the fields of bibliometric and scientometric research.

    Abstract
Presentation of Brooke's law for measuring the ageing of scientific literature was first introduced in 1970. Analyses 5 methods of statistical analysis based on this mathematical model: maximum citation, half-life, Griffiths' method, Brookes' graphical analysis and linear regression. Compares results from practical examples using each method, showing Griffiths to be imprecise and unstable, while the others produce similar results. Potential sources of error (size of sample and of age interval) can be readily controlled. An annotated bibliography is appended

    Abstract
Early research at the end of the 1950s on computerized indexing used statistical methods based on e.g. frequency, probability, clustering, and relevance. In the 1960s interest began to focus on linguistic analysis and natural language processing e.g. morphological, morphosyntactical, syntactical and semantic analysis. Since the 1980s computerized indexing research has widened to include images, graphics and sound. Examples are given of notable systems developed within each line of approach

    Abstract
Analyzes quality control problems from the viewpoint of bibliographic database producers. Aims to systematize the different criteria suggested for database quality evaluation, and to enumerate useful data collection methods. Focuses on the relationship between quality and database design, as seen through the example of the ISOC database

    Abstract
Defines some problems and proposes methods for the classification and characterization of corporate authors on the basis of aspects that have caused the greatest problems in the past: jurisdictional area; its peculiarity, nature or condition; and its organizational chart within a hierarchical structure. Explains the resulting classification and characterization of corporate authors with examples

    Abstract
Describes the application of a methods to make any systematic alphabetical ordering system compatible with ordering by sequential number. This system is based on the creation of numeric reserves between every 2 initial location marks thus making it possible to insert new documents. A simple table of numeric assignment is used for this. Book tags consist of 1 number of correlative character, while retaining the alphabetical ordering system previously applied to the holdings

    Abstract
Considers historical and systematic approaches to the development of documentary languages and knowledge classification. Proposes an alternative scheme for knowledge organisation based on the views of information managers and scientific classification structures. The adoption of an interdisciplinary approach permits an understanding of the history of knowledge organisation and the development of systems and methods of taxonomy. The origin of hierarchical and associative structures for documentary languages is traditionally the domain of librarians. Classification schemes should be able to survive change and subject integration

    Abstract
Since the appearance of Diderot and D'Alembert's Encyclopedia in the 18th century, encyclopedias have undergone some modifications but until recently there have been no substantial alterations to the basic design established by the original authors. The emergence of massive data storage systems and sophisticated methods of information retrieval such as hypertext are bringing about considerable changes in the design of encyclopedias, especially as regards interactivity. Presents a critical evaluation of these new hypermedia encyclopedias, illustrating both their advantages and their weaknesses. Discusses the future of multimedia encyclopedia publishing
