    Abstract
The number of languages in which libraries receive materials often presents challenges and difficulties for catalogers. Included in tlus volume are articles that deal with issues such as cataloging in languages in which library staffs have no expertise, authority work, descriptive and subject cataloging, classification, handiteration, backlogs, coopcralive and shared cataloging, and collection-level and minimal-level cadoging. Articles from academic, national, and public libraries as well as an article from the patron's viewpoint present different perspectives on these topics.

    Abstract
The ARL microform project, the ARL survey on microform sets, the establishment of an ALA Committee on Bibliographic Control of Microforms, OCLC's Major Microform Project, profile-matching, and programs and conferences on microforms are developments and activities during the 1980s that have resulted in major successes in the bibliographic control of microforms. Cooperative cataloging projects have been responsible for the additions of thousands of titles to the nation's databases. 3 such projects discussed in this article are Early English Books, 1641-1700 (WING STC), Goldsmiths'-Kress Library of Economic Literature, and Wright American Fiction
