Bekannte Beispiele sind Lovelybooks, Goodreads oder Shelfari. Die weltweit größte Community trifft sich auf LibraryThing. Neben der öffentlichen Plattform bietet LibraryThing auch entgeltpflichtige Kataloganreicherungen für Bibliotheken - LibraryThing for Libraries. Dirk Ehlen und Simon Brenner berichten im Folgenden über das Produkt.
