- Abstract
- In Belgium a comparative study was recently undertaken of the classified subject arrangement of the junior non fiction section of Destelbergen public library with that of the subject headings scheme used at Sint-Amandsberg public library. School pupils were asked during class visits to the libraries to locate a set list of titles and the results were compared. The study showed that for younger pupils an alphabetical subject arrangement is easier to understand. It has been decided to adopt a combination of the 2 systems in the new Destelbergen library to enable children to become familiar with the subject classification used in the adult section
