    Examines the historical relationship between library and information science and communication science with special reference to academic lineage. Communication science developed during the 1930s in a time of prosperity for the mass media, that communication research had a wide impact on library science at the time, and communication theory provided a foundation for the reconsideration of the relationship between library and information science and communication science

Describes the main changes in the 21st ed. and the work involved in in reclassification at the National and University Library of Iceland.
