    Abstract
Web search engines generally use best match search techniques, rather than traditional Boolean operators. Precision in searching will depend on the numbers of selected terms appearing in a document and the inclusion of less-common words in the search string. Users are, therefore, recommended to enter as many words as possible. ExCite and WebCrawler lead users from a relevant document to other documents containing similar word patterns, while MusCat and EuroFerret suggest additional keywords for searching

    Abstract
Just as citiation indexing provides links between related documents for published literature, the WWW offers facilities for searching related sources via the HTML tags. Search engines which offer this facility are InfoSeek and AltaVista, and, to a lesser degree, HotBot. All enable Boolean search strategy to be used, althoufg HotBot requires insertion of full URL addresses

    Abstract
Altavista, one of the major search engines for the WWW has recently been made available by DEC in a version suitable for local use (AltaVistaPX). The system can be used to search files on hard disk or via networks. Unlike similar systems AltaVistaPX is not run as a separate program, but is embedded in Netscape or other browser, and can be added to a list of 'bookmarks'. Payment ($ 30,-) and downloading of the file can be made online
