    Abstract
Given the speed with which CD-ROM databases and software are proliferating, it is necessary to formulate specific criteria for their evaluation for the benefit of end users and to facilitate library collection development efforts. Abstract
In Belgium a comparative study was recently undertaken of the classified subject arrangement of the junior non fiction section of Destelbergen public library with that of the subject headings scheme used at Sint-Amandsberg public library. School pupils were asked during class visits to the libraries to locate a set list of titles and the results were compared. The study showed that for younger pupils an alphabetical subject arrangement is easier to understand. It has been decided to adopt a combination of the 2 systems in the new Destelbergen library to enable children to become familiar with the subject classification used in the adult section
