    Abstract
    The advent of the multimedia personal computer (MPC) makes available substantial information processing and storage capability that can be accessed relatively easily through a powerful graphical user interface (GUI). The availability of low cost resources such as these now means that new approaches can be used for the development and use of personalized tools for information handling.
