    Abstract
    We have investigated the relative merits of searching on titles, subject headings, abstracts, free-language terms, and combinations of these elements. The COMPENDEX data base was used for this study since it combined all of these data elements of interest. In general, the results obtained from the experiments indicate that, as expected, titles alone are not satisfactory for efficient retrieval. The combination of titles and abstracts came the closest to 100% retrieval, with searching of abstracts alone doing almost as well. Indexer input, although necessary for 100% retrieval in almost all cases, was found to be relatively unimportant

    Abstract
    Previously, documentation systems have suffered from the use of descriptors insufficiently keyed to colloquial language ot from the seemingly insoluble problem of automatically processing original texts. The aim is to combine interlinguistic cooperation in literature documentation with special conditions of non-numeric data processing, without having to develop a special standardised documentation language. In 1975 work began on abstracting some American and European journal articles on educational technology using the constructed language Esperanto. The resulting collection of abstracts is being used by the FEoLL Institut für Kybernetische Pädagogik, Paderborn, to develop a conversational system for the retrieval of answers and references

    Abstract
    Es wird immer häufiger gefordert, in Informationssystemen nicht nur bibliographische Daten und Referate bzw. Abstracts zu speichern, sondern diese Informationen im vollständigen Text anzubieten. Die Volltextspeicherung eignet sich besonders für sehr spezifische Forschungsberichte und handbuchartige, in sich geschlossene Artikel über Detailprobleme der wissenschaftlichen Diskussion. Es wird der Vorschlag gemacht, spezifische Textinhalte durch mehrgliedrige Ausdrücke der natürlichen Sprache zu kennzeichnen. Um diese Methode für Textbeschreibung und für Information Retrieval in Informationssystemen anzuwenden, müssen Syntax und Semantik mehrgliedriger nominaler Ausdrücke analysiert werden
