    Abstract
    Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden die Ergebnisse einer Analyse zusammengefasst, in der untersucht wurde, ob, und wenn ja welche Services für das Management von publikationsbezogenen Forschungsdaten gegenwärtig bei wissenschaftlichen Infrastrukturdienstleistern in den Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften bestehen. Die Analyse wurde Mithilfe von Desktop-Research sowie einer Online-Befragung, an der sich 22 von 46 angeschriebenen Institutionen beteiligten, durchgeführt. Untersucht wurden vor allem deutsche und europäische Forschungsdatenzentren, Bibliotheken und Archive. Insbesondere wurde untersucht, ob diese Organisationen extern erzeugte Forschungsdaten, den dazugehörigen Berechnungscode (Syntax) und ggf. genutzte (selbstgeschriebene) Software grundsätzlich speichern und hosten. Weitere Themenfelder waren Metadatenstandards, Persistente Identifikatoren, Verfügbarkeit von Schnittstellen (APIs) und Unterstützung von semantischen Technologien.

    Desktop videoconferencing, which brings together computing, multimedia and telecommunications, is one of many new technologies competing for attention. Videoconferencing is being used in corporations as a substitute for business travel and in academic instituions as the basis for distance learning.     Abstract
    In December 1993 Tilburg University and Elsevier Science started a project with respect to the full text electronic delivery of journal articles. Users will be able to browse through articles from their desktop and make prints of relevant articles. Several research issues which are of importance both for the publisher and for the library are part of the project. It is a next step in the campus-wide electronic information provision at Tilburg University. The university created a well elaborated IT infrastructure which was already able to integrate library services with other computing facilities on 2.000 desktop PCs

    Abstract
    With the establishment of the WWW as a standard information tool in academic libraries, there is a greater demand for research assistance than ever before. Reference questions involve more teaching time given the number of interfaces clients confront as they navigate the book catalogue, electronic databases, and the WWW. Librarians require expert knowledge of multiple search strategies as well as the ability to teach others how to apply them effectively. Outlines hoe the WWW can function as a desktop publishing system, revitalize subject pathfinders and 'how to' guides, and promote the invention of interactive library tutorials.     Abstract
    The tasks of choosing documents from a new collection and categorization the choices, both on the basis of a body of standing queries, are known variously as selection and routing, selective dissemination of information (SDI), and information filtering. The combined operation of selecting and labeling documents naturally separates into 2 processes: feature scanning and query resolution. The first process examines a document for features and their locations; the second takes the findings from the first process, looks for satisfaction of combinations specified in the queries, and marks the document accordingly. When the body of queries is large, query resolution can become a significant factor in total processing speed. This paper outlines an efficient approach to performing query resolution on massive Boolean queries, suitable for implementation on a desktop computer. Algorithms are sketched in pseudo-code and experimental results are reported
