- Abstract
- In the Netherlands the Basic classification was developed as a joint initiative between the Royal and University Libraries Working Group and the Project for Integrated Catalogue Automation. The classification contains 48 main subject groupings and is intended to facilitate cooperative acquisition and indexing schemes. The scheme can also be used to monitor collection use and interlibrary loan requests. Librarians are urged to adopt the scheme in order to facilitate cooperative projects
