- Abstract
- If the member states of the European Communities are to avoid linguistic discrimination and to guarantee equality of treatment for all groups they face considerable problems. There is no easy solution, although intensification, diversification and rationalisation of foreign language teaching within the EC are indispensible. Language guidance (which aims to facilitate the later choice and learning of different foreign languages) is based on a didctically justified, simple regular and clear foreign language model, for which an interlinguistic constructed language is most suited. When various candidate European languages are compared in 27 dimensions, the constructed languages proposed are seen to be preferable to others, with Esperanto as the most suitable choice
