    Abstract
BIBSYS is now the central bibliographic database for the 4 universities and over 30 research libraries. In 1992 it was developed to allow researchers to resister information directly in the base and this year it will be available as a union catalogue of research documentation. It will eventually be freely accessible without password and all searchers will automatically be offered information on Norwegian research projects, but success depends on development of a network of cooperating institutions
